Happy New Year !

Happy New Year Dear Blog Readers!

We are enjoying football today.  The Buffalo Bills just won so all good here! Joe and I are staying put tonight and I'm happy about that.

We went away for a couple of days earlier in the week.  I worked on the Christmas stocking, and the mitten.

Arne and Carlos 2023 Mystery Sock.  They closed down the clues on December 24th and I was only up to December 13th. A kind person on the group sent me the clues. I have done 3 today so far. It's going to be very big.

Finished up the first mitten hand.

The back of the hand was about 1/2" shorter than the front due to the slip stitches to make it thicker. When I got to the first marker, I did about 6 german short rows, in pattern to catch it up. I can't believe I thought to do that but it worked.   The 2nd marker starts the decreases.  I have a start on ribbing for mitten #2 but really want to get the super giant christmas stocking done.

Ruth finished up her cute socks this week.

She started Double Stuff Mittens --free pattern on Green Mtg Spinnery.  Leftover yarn from her sweater.
  Lining is alpaca and silk.

Martha is working away on her beautiful sweater.

Her daughter Emma and boyfriend visited her this week. Emma has become a beautiful knitter, and John crochets.  He's a keeper!

Martha went to Webs and got this nice red yarn to make her son something. he is allergic to wool.

And this pretty green yarn for a sweater for her.

In other news:

Mason came for his first fun sleepover!

We made pancakes in cookie cutters.  (If you try this at home, spray inside with Pam, thank goodness Joe thought to do that).

Charlotte's first Christmas

Yesterday I had a few minutes to just sit with the tree on and a candle burning and just breathe.

Until next year dear blog readers....

The Little (Off) White Lie I've been telling you

 Hi Dear Blog Readers,

I'm sorry but I've been telling you a little lie...I was working on a bigger knitting project when I kept telling you I was busy......a scarf for Tiffany.  Olive Scarf.  Haydenville Yarn from Valley Yarn ...off white color.  Size 7 needles.  Two skeins = 440 yards.  Scarf is over 6' long.  It blocked beautifully.  Yarn is 60% superwash merino / 40% acrylic mocrofiber. It has a little sheen to it.  I hope she loves it.

I worked a little on the Christmas stocking this week. The colors are much more vibrant than showing here.

Finished Mason's mittens.  I hope they fit!

Ruth is working away on her 2nd sock. I adore the colors.

Martha has worked on her sweater this week:  Bare Naked Wool Cabécou sport, Amandine color.  Wanderling sweater by Isabell Kramer/Grasflecken.  I love all of the beautiful detail. she tried it on and it fits...yea

In other news:

We got to see baby Charlotte on Friday.  She is beyond cute.

Jayce turned 8 months old this week.   He is scooching across the floor and the big news is:

Two teeth popped out!

They are so adorable..Tiffany does great photo shoots.

Martha sent me the Jingle All the Way decoration this week.  Love it.  Thank you!

Merry Christmas dear blog readers....

The Week Before

 Hi Dear Blog Readers...

Twas the week before Christmas Eve...and I have a bit of knitting I would like to get done.

Finish up a pair of basic mittens for Mason.   Plymouth Select Worsted yarn.

Love the stitch definition.  Size 3 for ribbing, and 5 for hand. I'll check to see if Tiffany wants a string connecting them to put thru his coat.

I am way behind on the Arne and Carlos stocking , but I don't care. Its fun when I can get to it.

Martha is working away on her very pretty Wandering by Isabel Kreamer. I love how delicate it is.

Ruth is working a sock...Yarn is Hedge Hog Fibers. Colorway Raku. Because......

She finished up her beautiful Box Top Smock. Green Mtn Spinnery Mountain Mohair. Sky Blue color.

I saw it in person before she was done...it's really lovely!

In other news:

Tiffany's boys have been sick so no pics this week.

We had a family party last night. Remember these little sisters?  They are 7 and 9 already. So cute, and sweet.

Here is a nice family picture of Joey, Casey and sweet Charlotte...3 weeks old already.

Have a good week dear blog readers...

Nada

Hi Dear Blog Readers...

What a week...I've got nada (nothing) to show you for knitting this week.  So busy. Kids stopped over today which is way more fun than figuring out how to fill the blog with non-content.  LOL.

Ruth had to rip her blue sweater back a bit.

Martha is working on her sweater I think.

More next week...

My head is bigger than my stomach

 Hi dear blog readers!

Have you ever heard the expression:  my head is bigger than my stomach...order dessert and can't eat it...etc.  Well that is how my knitting is going.  I have a lot going on, and can't get to any of it.  Oh, and I started something new!

I'm working on the mittens. Plain pattern. But, one thing I incorporated from the pattern I stopped using was the slip stitch on the palm..making them nice and warm.

I want to make Mason mittens for Christmas....I better get moving!

Arne and Carlos started an advent project. Start Dec 1st, stop Dec 24th...I'm already behind. It will be a big stocking.  Why I started? I don't know!  But I'm under no pressure to finish at any specific time.  Is anyone else doing this?  Green and red yarn is Cascade 220, and white is Plymouth select. Both have been in stash for a very long time.

Ruth is working on her sweater she took out of the UFO pile.
Anne Hanson sweater pattern Box Top Smock. Green Mtn Spinnery Mountain Mohair. Sky Blue color.
Very pretty!

Martha is working away on her pretty sweater Wandering by Isabel Kreamer.

In other news:
Tiffany took her boys to see Santa this weekend:
the look on their faces are priceless:

Jayce: What is happening right now...Mason is with me so I'm not scared...I wonder if I can eat that white beard
Mason: Very carefully explaining the one thing he wants from Santa...in detail!

And we saw Sweet Charlotte - 10 days old. She slept the whole time.

Mickey loves his tree.....fake tree up. Real tree up next weekend I hope.
We are currently having a thunderstorm...in Western New York...in December!
Have a great week dear blog readers...

This time of year

 Hi Dear Blog Readers,

How was your Thanksgiving?  Ours was very eventful!  On Tuesday we celebrated dad's 90th birthday.

On Wednesday, our granddaughter was born!  Thursday was Thanksgiving and very nice.   Friday Tiffany and I went shopping.  Not much time to knit...hard to believe I've been off of work for a week and not much accomplished.

I tried...really hard to do the pattern in the mitten, but it did not look right. The yarn is too fuzzy. So it will be a plain mitten. The yarn is wonderful, so it is not settling for plain...it will be wonderfully plain!

Ruth made a bread warmer, and if you look at the detail, it's really wonderful.

Pattern is Bread Basket Liner, Juniper Moon Farm, Cotton/Linen yarn.

Martha is starting a sweater...pattern is called  Wandering by Isabel Kreamer.  It’s a Henley look.  She said the yarn is very soft.

In other news:

Welcome to the world Charlotte Jane !

She sure gave her a parents a time getting here....thankfully, all is good now.

Tiffany's boys were here on Thanksgiving...cute as ever!

Have a great week dear blog readers...stay safe!
