68 But i did it anyway

Yes, the pool was 68 degrees tonight but I jumped in anyway. All
the way down the ladder I kept chanting "you can't do this in
November". Brrrr -it really was refreshing once I got in. I guess
my point is...Fall is in the air and it's only August.

Finally finished the green socks I've been working on all summer.
Purly Swirly pattern (my own).
Yarn: Silk/merino/bamboo - purchased at Rhinebeck.

They are actually for me. If you look close you can see a hint
of gray color in the heel. I used reinforcement thread since
for some reason I blow the heels out of my socks - me
who always wears slippers and socks....oh well.

Ruth is working on a lovely pair of socks - Classic Elite Alpaca yarn. Pattern is Wandering Vine from _Think Outside the Sox book.

It's hard to see the pattern in this picture.

Martha has knit a lovely shawl for her friend.

Her words:
The pattern is Magicstar shawl by
Die-woollust. This is a german site ( I know, so international of
me!) and the internet address is www.die-wollust.de.
This yarn is at least 50 years old. No joke. Ann's mother died lasy
year at about 92 yo and she gave Ann her yarn about 10 years ago. Ann
gave it to me and it was all mothbally. I left it outside in the sun
for weeks and dried all the chemicals out of it and I have been using
it up regularly since then.

No work on the house this week. I have been baking/cooking
up a storm - it's so easy now.

Have a fun summery week.......not much summer left.

Blah Blah Blah

that pretty much sums up my knitting for the week. I'm working my way down the foot
on the 2nd green sock.

Ruth knit some adorable "mice" for her in-law's new cat. She has made quite a few
of these in the past. The kittys all love them.

It was a pretty sad day here yesterday. We had to have our 17 year
old cat Magic put to sleep. He had liver issues that got the best of him. He was
my knitting buddy and we will miss him immensely.

Quiet Week

We had a quiet week--no knitting to speak of. Ruth has nothing new to share and
I have not heard from Martha. Ruth and I had dinner Wednesday and talked
a lot about knitting - I need to do some creative stitches again.

We had the hardwood floor installed in the dining room today. We have to
wait 2-3 weeks to finish it.

Check it out:

Have a wonderful summer filled, fun packed week!

August 1st! Unbelievable!

I can't believe it is August already. I guess because of all of the kitchen work the year has flown by quicker than ever. Still not much knitting content - Ruth and Martha have been better than me - and I honestly can't remember much of what they told me, but I will still show their lovely pictures.

I have one sock complete, and one ready to work on the heel:

Ruth's current sock, with her snazzy toes

Ruth's BSJ that is almost complete!

This is Ruth's cat, Lucy, who is helping to model the sweater.

Mittens Martha just finished:

Baby outfit Martha just finished:

so so beautiful

This and that:

The family came over for my birthday last week.
This is the last year I can say I'm in my late 40's...gulp!

I just had to throw more kitchen pictures in here.....

Destiny stayed over night - we had fun.

We made homemade pizza....it was sooo yummy!

Felicia and some of the girls Tiffany works with came over for
Margarita Tuesday since I was on vacation this week....

Joey was making snacks while they were here:

Mom and dad got me flowers for my birthday.

Abbey went to the beauty parlor...she was strutting her stuff
after she got home because she knew how good she looked. LOL

Even Magic had to take a second look at Abbey because
she looked so good.

Joe and I went to Lake Ontario fishing on Saturday morning.
Well, he fished, and I knit and read. I was really ticked off that
the coast guard did not come and check our fishing licenses.

I got my license on July 2nd and had to pay $29 for it -
and it expires on Sept 30th. Big rip off

Joe got a nice bass:

We had a nice relaxing morning together. The sun was out and
the water was perfect.

Family of swans:

so peaceful

current sock.....

Joey has been asking for cookies since February...and today
I finally made them. Having so much fun cooking in the new
kitchen

Back to work tomorrow...ugh! I really need two weeks off
in a row. Only way that will happen is to start playing the
lottery.

Have a super summer week!
