Quick Update

I finished up the Rivercat socks this week (free pattern in Knitty).
I am so relieved that the purl stitches behaved and laid down like they
are supposed to. Pre-blocking they were standing up like soldiers!

Fiber Optics sock yarn.  Nice green with flecks of blue.

Started decreasing for the foot of the brainless sock.
Doing a mock cable on both sides.
Ruth and I  signed up for the Through The Loops Mystery Shawl
that starts next week, so I'll try to get this one sock done by then.
(Ruth is not sure if she will knit along with the mystery, or knit at
her own pace, starting whenever she feels like it). LOL

Ruth has a good start on her 2nd sock:
She traveled to Ashville and Nashville this week and sent some trip pics.
Not sure exactly where these are, so I'm just sending the pics.....
she said it was a very beautiful trip.

I think these are the cars that fell in the sink hole!
Can't believe the destruction

Cute!

Have a nice  holiday weekend.  So nice here, I have to get back
outside.

More of the same

Rivercat socks...more green than this picture shows. I am so
happy that I am working on the foot  of the 2nd sock already. That is huge
progress for me in a week.

Not much progress on the brainless sock...

I also started a baby sweater but not much to report other
than its started.

Martha finished up her first sock, and I bet she has a good start
on the 2nd one by now!  Reminder this is her own pattern.

 Nice!!!!!

Ruth is done with one Lichen and Moss sock and is 1/2
done with the other. Yarn is Schaeffer Nicole.

I   saw these in person and they are absolutely lovely.
The picture does not do them justice.

The kids stopped by today...love when they come...

Have a great week!

Little Things

Happy Mothers Day! I'm posting early as we have the
family coming over later.  Like knitting socks and hats and
mittens, it's the little things that add up for a mom.

Last week Joey took my picture with him.  His idea.
Tiffany called me this morning on her way to work to
say Happy Mothers Day.   For me, these little gestures
add up and make me so happy...so I don't really need
a special day to make that happen, I'm lucky enough to get it
all year long.

No knitting for me this week. Thank goodness Ruth
and Martha have something to share.

Ruth finished up her Roundabout socks.
(details in last week's blog)

I really like how the pattern and yarn go together!

Martha finished up some socks in Lorna's Laces Soulmate.(see details
in last blog post)....
and....she sent Ruth and I the same yarn so we can make some socks
and all wear to Rhinebeck.  THANKS AGAIN MARTHA !
Now I need to figure out what pattern I will use....
decisions...decisions....

She started a new pair for her sister Susan.
This yarn is by Ancient Arts, colorway is Abalone,
75% superwash and 25% nylon.  This pattern
is designed by her and was similar to Ann Budd's Mock Wave Cable Socks.
Her's are simpler.

Nice!!  Love the colors.

In other news...the boys have been Walleye fishing and look what Joey
caught on Friday night:

9.45 lbs
(excuse the messy background...pics taken in the mancave).

Have a great week.

Small Stuff

It seems lately, it keeps coming back to the small stuff....

Finished up the 1st Rivercat sock.  It is more green than
this picture shows.
I'm waiting for Tiffany to come and try it on. It is for my friend Betty for
Christmas, and Tiff has the same size feet !  LOL
I'm hoping the purls relax a little after they are blocked...it will
look so much nicer.  Yarn is FiberOptic.  It feels so nice in
my hands while I'm knitting.

I needed a brainless diversion, so started a pair of socks.
Big surprise, right?  LOL

the recipient has sweaty feet, so I searched for some Bamboo
blend yarn. Found this Saki Bamboo at Paradise Fibers.
I am really impressed with their website, and service.

The yarn is a dream to work with. So soft.  I actually got some
solid gray, and made 4 row  stripes with the gray and varigated.
I want to make them long.  I think for the heel I will double the
gray yarn for strength. Notice the mock cable on the ends....

Here is Ruth's current sock.  Sauberball yarn, Roundabout pattern.

I really like how the colors mix with the pattern.

She also made this Anne Hanson Slouch Potato hat from Patons wool
yarn since the last post.
Look how perfect her stitches are....

Martha is working on a pair of toe up socks. She is probably
done with both by now. Pattern is from Knitty -
Interlocking Leaves.

The yarn by Sweetgeorgia, BFF sock, color Glacier.
It's Bluefaced Leicester wool.  I like the sheen it has....

In other news....

Joe and I went away last Saturday for our 31st wedding anniversary.
I know..we were just kids when we got married.  We stopped at
the Ellicottville Brewery on our tour.  I loved it there. Everything
was so carefully thought out. I wish I would have taken more pictures.
We had a few beer samples, and a huge burger for lunch.
On the way home, we drove along Lake Erie and could not believe
the ice still there.  We heard people talking that small boats were
getting trapped in the ice and the Coast Guard had to rescue them.
This is the first year Joe has not gone Walleye fishing on opening
day due to cold weather.

This ice goes all the way across to Canada.....
Joe spent the day getting equipment power washed...he froze.
Th wind was awful...look how its whipping the pool cover...ugh

I think Abbey likes this temperature though....she's not too hot or too cold.

I made a nice Sunday dinner today. I have been craving a roast.
Wanted the house to smell cozy.
I followed this roast recipe in Pinterest, and it turned out perfect!

Ruth spent last week vacationing at Lake Placid. They
visited  Asgaard farm, Ausable Forks and check out these
adorable kids:\

CUTE!!!!!!

Until next week....it's supposed to be warm....
