Short and Sweet

A short post today as I don't have much to talk about.
Almost done with the 2nd sleeve. I really did not knit much this week.

Now the sweet part.

Ruth and Martha are both working on baby sweaters....

Here is Ruth's.

Sunnyside Cardigan from Tanis Fiber Arts. Yarn is mostly Opal sock yarn leftovers.
 I love the color combos.

Here is Martha's

This is the scrappy socky stripey cardigan, by f.pea, one of her favorites, as you know. The main color is Tuscana colorway Jitterbug yarn and assorted left over sock yarn. Sooo cute.

Have a nice week, Knitters!

More of the same

More of the same knitting this week...
Sweater is coming along nicely.

Finished up 1st sleeve, and have a good start on the 2nd.
I like that the sleeves are brainless knittng.
I am not looking forward to picking up around the collar.

Also did the 2nd sock short row heel.  I followed Wendy Johnson's
very detailed instructions and it came out better. A good blocking
will make it look even nicer, I think.

Here is Martha's  baby kimono sweater. She used left over
toufootsie yarn, and Garter stitch Baby Kimono pattern by
Joji Locatelli. It was a free pattern on Ravalry, but she adjusted it
by using stocking knit stitch instead. Wasn't sure if she had
enough yarn to do garter stitch since  it uses a lot of yarn. There was
no weight amount listed on the pattern so she wanted to conserve the
yarn somewhat. Onto the next baby sweater...love the little hat also.
Such a sweet little set.

Ruth is almost done with her 2nd Monkey sock. She is using Miss Bab's
wool.  I really love the color/pattern combo for these socks.

The kids went out last night to a friend's birthday party.
The picture was Joey's idea, and he told me this was my one and only
picture for Easter and Mother's Day.   LOLOLOLOL

Have a nice week, dear knitters.

What do you get....

when you knit for 10 days on a size 8 needle?

Why the body of a sweater, of course!  And, not much knitting was done
during the week. Had a hellaova week at work...so glad tomorrow is a
fresh start.

I tried the seater on as I went, and I'm relying on the swatch....I really
hope it fits well when done.

I added stitches near the bottom to fit my "womanly curves"
aka huge hips!

Also slipped the 1st stitch of each row. Not sure if it made a difference
in stockinette, but it looks nice anyway.

Now I need to pick up for the arm.

I kept track of all of the rows, on little post its, to make sure the buttonholes
were in the right place, and to make sure the increases looked right.

I'm really happy with how it is turning out so far. Cross your fingers
it fits!

Martha is working on a kimono style baby sweater.
Martha's words:
I am using a Kimono pattern. It is knit out of tufootsie yarn.
Remember that yarn from years ago? I am making the sleeves with no white stripes. This is for a woman at work that is not sharing the sex of her baby. She's a
knitter too so I hope she likes it. I will check for buttons tomorrow
and see if I have any that work.
I would also like to say that my great nephew is loving his handmade

sweater. Why you ask? Not because it is a handmade sweater,
it is because it has car buttons! Love little kids. Happy knitting! Martha

Adorable !!!!

Ruth and Martha were in Seattle this week. Martha left on Wed redeye. Ruth
stayed till Saturday. She worked on a sock while she was there.
Monkey sock by Cookie A.  Miss Babs yarn, Biker Chick color.

I have yet to make a monkey sock... I love the colors with the pattern, don't you?

Ruth is now on Oaklahoma watching her granddaugher Moriya dance in a
competition.

Isn't she lovely? So professional and focused.

Well no spring this week. Snowed like crazy  this morning.
Brrrrr cold week ahead...

Happy knitting friends.

Spring !

This weekend feels like Spring !!!! So wonderfully nice out!

I started the Trail Jacket sweater last week and on Wednesday, ripped
the whole thing.  I didn't like the button hole, and it was easier to rip than
tink back.
I finally found a buttonhole I liked in Knitter's Book of Finishing Techniques.
Jeannine (teacher) spent a lot of time with us during more than one class going
over buttonholes, and now I see the importance.

It is worked over two rows.
I am this far, about to the boobs.

I have tried it on 2x, and it is just a teeny weeny snug. But, I am trusting my
gauge swatch.....knitting I am 4.5 stitches to the inch, and once I washed the
swatch it was 4 stitches to the inch.  It will be just fine.

I am hoping the yarn itself does not look to "Walmart".  I really want it to
look like a Macy's sweater. I guess I will settle for something inbetween...
Kohls?

Here is the true color, picture taken outside.  This is a Jeannine color.
Joe hates it. Tiffany said she does not dislike it. I have so many blue
sweaters, I thought I was ready for a change.  I think it will need some
snazzy buttons to make it look young. I am thinking I will wear
it to Rhinebeck if it turns out nice.

Ruth and Martha are both so much better at finishing than I am, and it shows in their
final products.

I am only this far on the 2nd sock. The sweater is keeping my interest.

Martha finished up her socks this week, and sent me a text picture, but not one to
my email. They turned out really fun and cute!

Check out Ruth's sweater. I am so in love with this.  It is very interesting. Makes
mine look soo soo plain...well, it is plain... LOLOL

Reminder it is Irish Coffee Pattern from Baby Cocktails.

We have been making pizza on Saturdays. Last night we made Hawaiian pizza
with ham, pineapple and onions.  Yum. Both kids helped.

Tonight, Joe is doing a pork roast on the grill. I might have to alter this week's menu
since it sounds like tons of rain and outside gooding will not be fun!

Have a super week...I'm heading out for a quick walk before dinner.

Moving along

Moving along on a few projects.

I am ready to kitchner toe of 2nd mystery sock:

Hopefully by next week I will have blocked and have nice pictures.
This is ultra alpaca yarn, and felt so so soft in my fingers. I think it is
too delicate for socks, so I will have to be very careful wearing them.

Finished up the first toe up sock for my friend Betty. I hope to
make her two pair for Christmas.

The leg is 10" tall.  The yarn did all of the work, great patterning.

I am starting a top down sweater - here is a picture of the yarn swatch.

Schulana Pacolana yarn.  I have the sweater barely started, but have a question
for the designer...I hope she gets back to me soon.

Making the Trail Jacket by Hannah Fettig

Ruth is also making a top down sweater:

Irish Coffee Pattern with mystery yarn her sister gave her:
I really like it a lot, don't you?

Martha is working on some socks, in yarn that Ruth gave her.
I love the colors, don't you???

Tiffany had a birthday since last post:

Real birthday:

 Family birthday

Check out these sunrise pictures from Feb 22nd....
Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning. We had quite
the snowstorm that night!

Woke up to 3" of snow again today, and it is snowing now.
We are all ready for some spring...

Have a fun week.
