Crazy Busy

I've been crazy busy this week working on the house and don't have much
knitting news to share. (What it means when I say I've been working on the
house is that I'm running the shopvac, or have disappeared somewhere).

The yarn arrived from Apple Laine yarns on Friday and is wonderful - there
will be enough to make Joe a pair of nice long socks. I am about 3" above
the ankle on each one. I'm doing two at a time so that they come out the
same since I'm not exactly sure how much yarn I have.

Ruth and I got together at her house yesterday for a nice girlie
breakfast and a knit/chat. She is working on a 2nd blue sock and
doing some spinning.

Martha has 3 pair of mittens done and started the 4th pair, she
promises to send pictures when done.

See I was not lying when I said there was not much excitement
to share.

Have a nice week - will share pictures next week.

Hi

I couldn't think of a title so, HI !

Not much knitting for me this week - very rough week at work.
I am increasing around the ankle of the 2nd sock.

Magic found an odd ball of yarn and started playing with
it one morning....next thing I knew he was all tangled. Hysterical.
I made him sit for a photo before I took it off.

Ruth finished up one of her blue socks that she's been working
on for a while now in-between other projects.

Joe worked hard to start and finish the drywall this week.
He and Joey did the ceiling during the week, and we got
the walls done this weekend

Have a wonderful week!

Mothers Day and Snow?

Happy Mother's Day...and yes we had snow on the ground this morning and
flakes flying all day long. Last week we had a couple 80 degree days...
huh?

This week I worked exclusively (well almost exclusively) on Joe's sock.
I have one done 3" above the ankle and am waiting for more yarn to finish...
so I found some more needles and started the 2nd one.
Cindy from Apple Laine Pie Yarn is sending me some yarn - free!
How generous is that? She said the chocolate brown color is hard
to match so she's sending some free in case it is not what I wanted,
and said she included some varigated to match.
so the top of the leg will be stripey....cool!

I worked a little bit on the Elf slippers this week. They are a really
fast knit, but I ripped out the short row a few times.
Finally I found a nice you tube video demonstrating
how to do a short row with no wraps.

Here is a link to the video:

I like it. I will need to practice on small socks next. These
look giant, but will be felted.

Ruth has done a lot of spinning this week and said the yarn
turned out beautiful...can't wait to see it in person.
She has been working on a nice pair of socks, and is
almost done.

This week we had quite a scare...Abbey went missing for 30 hours.
I know there was truly divine intervention involved so she could
come home. She was found about five miles from here. Some nice
folks fed her and turned her into the pound the next day and after
many of phone calls, we tracked her down. Did not think we would
ever see her again. She crossed a lot of busy roads to get
where she ended up..She is still spending a lot of time under the
bed since she is home.....ugh!

I had a very nice mothers day so thought I would share some pictures of
my kids. The two big human kids were not very cooperative.

Martha asked me to share some pictures of the kitchen. I haven't
had much to share lately. Due to Joe's outrageous work schedule,
not much has been done in the last couple of weeks.
I think he has about given up, and I'm surprised it's taken this
long.

Tonight he and Joey are trying to get enough done so they
can start to drywall the kitchen.

Current kitchen:

this is actually much worse than it has been...just a lot
of stuff in the way so he can work. The big red thing
is a drywall lift to hoist the drywall to the ceiling.

Have a nice fun, knitful week !!!!!!

FromTwo to FIVE

Happy May!
I love spring....the grass is sooo green...flowers spring up and pop open....amazing.

Speaking of popping open...

Remember this..the Forest Canopy Shawl on the needles....

Well look how it popped open when it was blocked.

I am so in love with this shawl. I told Joe that knitters make shawls
because we like to make then, not necessarily because we
like to wear them.

Pattern: Forest Canopy Shawl
Yarn: Dream in Color Starry, color Beach Fog
Needles: Addi Turbo Lace, Size 6

It measures 67" across and 43" on the sides. It is not
crooked, its the way i have it on the line.

close up of the pattern

close up showing the silver threads - can you see me
dancing under a crystal ball with the threads sparkling...
yea!

The silk/merino socks are finished and blocked and can be
put away for colder weather. They turned out sooo sooo nice.

Reminder the pattern was K4, Seed 3.
Yarn: Silk/Merino purchased at Rhinebeck.

Very Soft and silky

Also finished is the BSJ for Tiffany's friend Megan.
Her little boy will be arriving sometime in July. I am
hoping this will fit him during the fall season. I was waiting
for buttons.

I now have FIVE finished objects for the year!
Phew!

I started a pair of toe-up socks for Joe. The pattern is:

K3, Slip 1
K3 K1 thru the back loop

I have made this pattern for him before, but did not knit the
4th stitch thru the back loop. I was hoping it would make the
stitch "pop" more...we'll see. This is a nice manly pattern.

The yarn is Apple Laine yarn that I purchased from
Pam a long time ago when she was in her old shop. It is
soooooo nice. I will need one more skein and am on the
hunt for it. I have two, but want to make the socks nice
and long for Joe. He likes to wear them with his tall work
boots.

I almost started some socks for me, but decided I would get
his Christmas socks out of the way. Now I'm kind of sorry these
won't be mine... they feel incredible.

Ruth is working on some green socks that I do not have
a current picture of.

Martha sent along some prom pictures of her kids:
EmmaLouise and her boyfriend and her son Tom.
They look great don't you think!

Last weekend we celebrated mom and dad's 50th wedding
anniversary.

Joe's niece put their wedding picture on one of the cakes:

Mom said her only wish is that they have another 25
years together...I'll drink to that!

It was a surprise party and we had tons of fun!

have a fun week....I need to try and track down
some more Apple Laine Pie yarn.
