Three Times (Had Better Be) a Charm!

This is the third time I've started my new sweater! Class is tomorrow and I have nothing significant to share! I had stuff to do today so I didn't get as much done as I wanted to. I'm starting a temp job tomorrow for 3 weeks. Let's hope I'm not the slowest one in knitting class!
All of these strings are a pain to deal with, but if I have to rip again it's much easier if they're not tucked in yet.

What we're excited about today?
I made stir fry for dinner and it was quite yummy - the boys ate it all.
The flowers are all starting to bloom and soooo beautious!

Still Fetching

The blue "Fetching" fingerless gloves are done and the 2nd pair is 42.3% done.
I am doing this pair on sticks (double pointed needles) because of the yarn difference, the circular wouldn't work. It is much easier on my hand. This pair is oh so soft.....like the first pair only a thinner yarn. I'm using Cashsoft DK by Rowan. The blue ones were Cashsoft Aran by Rowan.

I have to work at my part time job Tuesday (which is currently my only job) so there won't be much knitting going on.

Abbey had an awful Monday! It thundered all day here and she spent the day quivering under our bed. The lake in the field behind our house is unbelievable! All that mud is not fun for a dog - especially when she comes in the house and has to stay in her bed till she's dry.

What we're excited about today?
It's warm out!

Fetching.....

1.89% pair of Fetching fingerless gloves done...ain't they purty?

My fingers hurt from doing these on 12" circular needles. I mean really hurt! They need a break, so I think I'll work on my sweater.....I have 3 rows done.

I started it last night, and realized a huge mistake, so had to start over again...but better with 3 rows done than 33 rows!

My friend Ruth and I went to see Miss Potter on Saturday at the Little Theater. It was very charming in so many ways - --definately girly! Then we went to the Spot for coffee afterwards....it was the perfect ending to a perfect day!

What we're excited about today:

I took a nice walk today - what a beauuuutiful day!
The boys went fishing Saturday and Sunday, so we had a delicious dinner of fresh perch tonight.

Toodles.....

Three Guesses

I'll give you three guesses to decide what this is a picture of:

If you guessed the beginning of a new FUN sweater, you're right! The sleeves are off the needles and I can start the new one. Class is next Thursday so I need to have something substantial to share by then. I figured out the math, (I hate the math part) and am ready to cast on! I need to figure out how to photograph colors better....The yarn on the right is actually a navy blue.

What we're excited about today
(because every day has something exciting, right???)

I took a loooong walk - if any of you fellow layoffees are reading this, I park at Big M in Brockport and walk to Wegman's and back - about 45 minutes - would love company anytime - you know how to reach me!)

I made another killer dinner, and told my hubby he is not allowed to start his Akins diet until I start working again....I need a purpose to my day and lately it's been satisfying his stomach!

Magic, the cat, is so thrilled that we'll be starting a new project, he's sick of that green yarn!

Which brings me to a discovery I made about myself today....I get easily bored with some things, yet I absolutely hate change....can you just imagine the conflicts that go on inside of me! No wonder I adore wine,
it subsides the internal civil war for a time.....I've heard that people change every seven years....I can feel it errupting......look out world, here I come......oh, did I mention that I'm quite shy, also....another internal conflict....the list goes on.....

It's back to Ugly Betty...what did you think about American Idol? I'm sure Kevin and Joe are happy that
Haley will be back next week.....Feel free to leave comments of who you think should win!

The Beaded Collection

The Beaded Collection....doesn't that sound so JC Penney's????
As promised here are the pictures of the Odessa Hat
by Grumperina who is amazing.
The scarf w/beads...I wanted the scarf to have swirls like the hat, found a pattern I liked in the Big Book of Knitting Stitch Patterns.
I had to figure out bead placement. I did not put beads all around the whole scarf. I'm all about being warm, and the thought of cold beads on a cold neck gave me 'chills'. As I mentioned before, the wrist warmers are Fetching from Knitty.

This is Tiff modeling her ensemble..

..

Close up of the hat:

Close up of the scarf - notice the swirl like the hat - this is her favorite!

What's exciting about today? Spring! I took a loooong walk - was that ever good for the spirit! Better than a nap even!

The boys are excited because they'll be fishing soon:

The girls are excited because we'll be swimming soon:

Abbey, bless her canine soul, will actually miss the snow!

Poor babies, it will get better soon.....

Sweater sleeve progress:

Yippity-Do-Da

Yippee!
I am ready to start decreasing for the sleeves on the sweater! Lots more rows to go, but it should be much quicker now! Yippity-Do-Dah, Yippity-Yea!!!!! Can you imagine how excited I'll be when It's time to sew it together? Not very! I have finishing issues. Those to be discussed at a later time with a glass of wine. My friend, Kevin, would call it avoidance, and he's right. But now I need the needle to start my new, FUN, sweater....and I did seriously think about buying new needles, but at $15.00 I decided to get my fingers in gear and get cracking....Knit 2, Purl 1, Knit 2, Purl 1.

Here is the picture of my daughters Fetching wrist warmers. The ladies she works with want black. Basic black. The pretty cables won't show very well but that's what they want.

See the beads...It all started with Grumperina's Odessa Hat pattern, then I did a scarf for her with beads, and now the wristwarmers. The color is really a pretty maroon, not purple.
I'll show the whole set if I can ever find it in her room, she actually wears it a lot.

Brrrrr

No new knitting today. Brrrr, it's cold.
I knit a lot on the sleeves last night - but did not seem to make progress.

I have an order for 2 sets of wrist warmers.....two ladies where my daughter works want some.
They are the Fetching from Knitty. I add a row of cable at the bottom and top to make them a bit more substantial, and to use up the yarn cause I seem to have to use two skeins anyway. I knit my daughters on Cashsoft DK by Rowan - sooooo soft! When I told them how much the price of the yarn was, they decided on a cheaper version! Nobody ever said knitting was a cheap hobby.....

I'll take a picture to share soon.

and I leave with,

Knit 2, Purl 1, Knit 2, Purl 1

Toodles!

Boring!

Knit 2, Purl 1, Knit 2, Purl 1, and so the same story continues.

Here is a picture of the sleeves in progress...the blue needle is the finish point! It takes forever to do one inch. Boring!

This is a picture of the sock in progress...not much done their either.

Something fun - Magic and Abbey - Abbey is our 6 year old Golden....
she is our sweetie heart! And of course my knitting compion, Magic.

Sweater

The yarn I'm using for the sweater is Karabella Aurora 8 - a squishy merino wool. So far I am loving it.

Purl 2, Knit 1, Purl 2, Knit 1, Cable, etc.

So sick of ribbing!
Oh yea, I already mentioned that.

What I'm excited about today:

Look! Spring Bulbs!

Sunday was so beautiful here in Western New York. We saw the sun!
I worked a bit on the 2nd Fade from Purple sock, and a bit on another project that has been on the needles way too long!
It's a sweater from Fall IK. Lots and lots of ribbing and I just get sick of it and have to put it down and work on something else. I have the front and back done and am not working on the sleeves. Well, now is crunch time. I need the needles for a sweater class I'm taking so I REALLY need to get those darn sleeves done. I'm knitting 2 at once so they're exactly the same size.
I'll post pictures later.
Since I'm new at blogging, I'll also post some recently FO's from time to time to keep it "fresh".
Toodles.

Meet my knitting helper - Magic. He is 13 years old and will wiggle his way into my lap no matter what I'm doing. This is my latest pair of socks made from a yarn called "Fade From Purple" that I purchased from Epicurus.etsy.com on Etsy back in the fall.
The yarn is a very soft, 100% merino wool, done on size 3 needles. The needles are from KnitPicks and the package says they're a size 2! I should have checked but I'm too trusting. I've read of others who have been fooled by their packaging also. I can't understand why their size 2 can't be a real size 2. I digress.
I am enjoying this pattern from Charlene Schurch's book Sensational Knitted Socks
http://www.amazon.com/Sensational-Knitted-Socks-Charlene-Schurch/dp/1564775704
I am doing Elongated Corded Rib pattern. The pattern itself is quite stretchy so I did the foot in plain old stockingnette. When I was all done I decided I wanted some dark purple on the top, so I picked up all around the edge. I was smarter on the 2nd one and simply cast on the dark purple first.
