Read your knitting

 Hi Dear Blog Readers.

A weird weather week here. It was quite cold a couple of days. One morning I wore a cowl and coat on my early morning walk!  Sounds like a cooler week ahead.  I was hoping the last week of summer would be warmer.

My knitting teacher used to tell us to "Read your Knitting".  Once I actually did that on the little shawlette, I made many less mistakes.  I finally figured out that the YO after the marker, sometimes accidentally landed before the marker, thus causing me to rip back.  Finally when it's almost done I have figured that out. LOL. I am so very close to being done with it.  A good blocking will be needed for sure.

Knit a few rows on the sock this week.  A couple more and I will decrease for the heel.

Ruth is working on the beautiful Ovansjo cardigan.  She is almost ready to take sleeves off the needles. That is always a high point.

Martha is working on the Baseball jersey sweater for her SIL. So nice!  She said the yarn is so beautiful and less red in person.  She is starting the sleeves.

 In other news:

Joey's kids were her overnight and we had a ton of fun.  I didn't get many pictures...we were too busy playing.  We will be gone next week so no blog post.  Have a great last week of summer dear blog readers.

Little Late

Hi Dear Blog Readers.  Blog is a little late this week. I was having so much fun this weekend I was too pooped to write anything Sunday evening.

The shawlette is coming along.  Almost ready to start decreasing. I want to get this done before I start the sweater.

Worked a few rounds on the sock. This yarn is so nice.

Ruth ripped out her sweater. It was just not working. Sometimes difficult patterns are not worth the trouble.

She started another sweater, and is so very close to having the increases done so she can take sleeves off of the needle.  That is always such a huge milestone!  Yarn is Shenandoah Fiber. Winter Berry colorway. Blend of Alpaca, Merino, and Bamboo….

Martha is working on a sweater for her SIL. Baseball Jersey.  Her's will be all one color. Yarn is Green Mt Spinery.

 In other news:

We saw the little boys a lot this weekend. Jayce had his first sleepover by himself. Went very well.

We were at Joey's yesterday for his birthday. So fun.

Have a great week dear blog readers!

Simmering

Hi Dear blog readers...we are simmering in the summer here in Western NY.  It was back to work this week, and it was a  hard week at work. The temps are high, and the pool is beautiful. I managed to get out and walk a lot in the am before work. My favorite time of day to walk. I like to wake up with the sun.  It feels like fall here though. The mornings are cool. It's hard to explain.

Knitting has been slow--and I'm ok with that.

Today I was tinking back the shawl because I saw a mistake and noticed this dropped stitch. So glad I saw it.  All fixed now.   Shawl is coming along.

I did another little swatch on a size 5 needle for the Waffle pullover. It calls for size 7 as a guide, and I am a tight knitter.  This one worked. But I have to say that I will have to try this on a lot to make sure it fits as I go along. I'm prepared to rip if necessary.  I've done so much swatching I'm kind of sick of the colors already!  HA!

Ruth has started a sweater (2nd time starting it) since last time we blogged.

Sweater is Malin. Natasja Hornby. Yarn is Shelter. Colorway is Foothills and Truffle Hunt.  It's difficult and she is knitting it beautifully.  Follow the link to see what it will look like when it's done.

Martha has a lot of wonderfullness to share this week!  She is making trigger finger mittens for Ren, her son's girlfriend.

So cute!

She made hats for her son Tom, and  Ren. This is Ren's.

This is Ren's  Ear Cozie hat.  Ren wanted stripes

And here is Tom's.  Adorable.

Here is Martha's finished sweater she made in record time (Almost finished - in this pic sleeve is not done).  I saw it on her in person last weekend and it's stunning. Color, fit pattern...A 10 out of 10.

In other news:

Joe's garden is spectacular this year. He has spent a lot of time out there trimming, weeding and watering.  We are in a drought here..it's bad.  There have been many field fires in the area.  They have had rain storms within 2 miles of us...but keeps missing us.  Hello water bill!

I did not get to see Tiffany or her boys this weekend. She took them to a park to enjoy the weather.

Little Jack came with Joey for breakfast yesterday. Charlotte and Casey were off having fun.  He is a little doll baby.  So chill. Well he is not little. I can hardly lift him anymore.  8.5 months old and around 22 lbs. His uncles are very tall so maybe he will be too.

Have a good week dear blog readers....

MoJo

 Hi Dear Blog Readers...

After a week away and lots of rest and relaxation (and grandkids), I have my knitting mojo back. I want to knit all of the things again.

This is a picture of the lake view in the background while I knit.

I have knit about 5 repeats of the shawl after the increases are done.
Swatched for the Waffle Pullover.  Size 6, 7, and 8 needles (separated by white thread)...and I come up with the same gauge for each. Weird huh. I have to do some math. I asked Co-pilot and it said that is not uncommon when swatching in the round..and it's a tension  thing.

Got a little done on the sock.

Ruth and Martha had a big family reunion this week so no knitting pictures today. I saw them both yesterday for breakfast. Martha had on her beautiful yellow sweater..you should see the fit!  It's amazing. Ruth shared the current sweater she is working on. Its going to be so nice.

I cleaned out a lot of yarn when I was home.  A lot! Ruth is taking the nicer stuff to a craft store near her house for me, and I threw out a lot of junk yarn.

In other news:

We had a grand time on vacation.

Got to see Charlotte and Jack today...they are so cute.

Jack loves real food now.

Went to a concert on the Erie Canal with my friend Denise.

The rest are from the days at Honeoye Lake.
Jayce was a little skeptical at first.

Mom life. Holding two kids while taking a boat ride.

Saturday it was overcast in the morning.

Mason caught his first fish ever, and many more after that.  Jayce helped celebrate.

Captain Joe.

Sunday Mason stayed with us...great sunset.

Future boat  captain

This was our view...

While I drank coffee, knit, watched for them to come back from fishing. It was so wonderful.

Have a good week dear blog readers.
