Ruth, Martha and I have been working on socks this week.
The mystery sock, and another one.
I spent a lot of time working on the Mystery sock and am up to the toe.
I am also within 1" of fnishing up mom's toe up sock.
I spent a lot of time taking pictures tonight and there is some sort
of disconnect between the camer and computer. ugh...Hopefully
I can get it fixed for next week.
Thank goodness Ruth and Martha sent some awesome pictures.
Here is Ruth's mystery sock. She eliminated 8 rows and it is ready
for the toe clue.
Here is a picture of her mystery sock, and of her other crazy yarn sock she
is working on. She is almost done with the 2nd sock.
Martha finished up her own pattern socks, in the blue yarn she got at
Rhinebeck.
Here is her mystery sock. She ripped back to the heel, and did a K2P2 pattern.
She thought the original pattern would be too flimsy. I totally agree.
Have a great week.
Happiness is a state of mind, and knitting is a state of happiness !

Knitting Intuition
Knitters have intuition like mom's do. W know when something is not
right with our knitting, but often refuse to believe it until it's too late.
Take my latest sock, for example.
I wanted to make something to work inbetween the Mystery sock.
I have had this Lorna' Laces yarn for a long time and thought I could
make something nice and simple with it. Then I decided to make
mom's Christmas socks. Might as well get going on those, right?
Also, I wanted toe up. Mom has very very bad fee due to bunions,
misplaced toes, etc. She needs a really wide toe. I cast on 80 stitches,
and I think that # is good for her. But it needs to narrow for her heel.
I narrowed to 36 and it was still way to big. I kept trying on Joe as his
feet and mom's are similar. It looked too big for him, but I kept knitting.
Did the heel. I'm using this heel:
http://fleeglesblog.blogspot.com/2006/11/leegles-toe-up-no-flap-no-hassle-sock.html
which I think might be similar to the "smart heel" that Ruth and Martha use.
I did the heel, turned it and started up the leg. I tried it on Joey because I'm still
trying to make it work in my head. Joey has pretty big feet, and he said mom,
these would be too big for me. So I ripped. Almost a whole sock done.
I just had to take a picture so you didn't think I goofed off all week !!
Here is the current progress:
I'm kind of liking these colors. With 64 stitches, there is not much pooling. It's interesting
now just 4 stitches more or less can effect the pooling.
I am up to speed on the Mystery sock. Has quite a fancy heel. And actually I think
though it is pretty, it will be pretty fragile, especially in the yarn I am using.
Ruth has been working on socks, also.
Here is a picture of her mystery socks which is Regia extra twist merino yarn.
The other pair is from an old ball of Opal yarn. Her pattern, K6,P2. Snazzy colors!!
Don't they look FUN!
Ruth found some yarn in her stash .
Its from her sister who bought it in 1994. No ball bands on the skeins. Receipt says Soft wool, 2ply, seconds. From the Woolery when it was located in Genoa NY.She spent a lot of time this
week untangling, washing and rewinding.
Ruth also finished up her Winnowing shawl this week. She had to wait for
a little bit more yarn to arrive in the mail to finish up the edge.
I love this, don't you?
I get to see it in person tomorrow! Can't wait. I love the shape and how it
flows over her arms..nice and comfy.
Martha is in Boston for a snazzy wedding this weekend, so no updates from her.
Here is a picture of Ruth's kitty...Lucy. She is soooooo cute. We thing she and
Mickey look related...what do you think?

NOT Knitting Weather
but real knitters keep pushing the knits and purls anyway !! ha ha ha
It was 60 today and I had the windows open to air out the house.
This is my installment of the mystery sock, done with Clue 2. I really had
to work my fingers off to get this done. I did not work on it during the week
so had to do it Fri, Sat, Sunday.
Awful awful pictures. I like that the pattern is just one repeat on each needle,
which works out great if you are using two circs like I do.
I like my yarn...a lot. I am confused as to why she had us do the little cable
cross, as it does not really show up. I checked out Ravelry and mine looks
like everyone elses....
Finished up Joe's gray socks this week. They are very soft. Feel like
they have aloe or something.
The above picture is more of the color.
This picture below is the two socks stacked...it is always a win when they turn
out the same size....
Tiffany and I went to ceramics and painted last week. here is my new butter dish.
It is really not yellow, just a nice soft tan.
This pic is better. I have kind of a funky theme going. I tell Joey he is getting all of it
when he moves out. He ask me if I could make the colors any more girly than
they are ...hahahahahhaha
Here is my ceiling decoration......
He is so cute.
Here is Ruth's mystery sock. Hers is behaving better in the pics than mine did.
She started a new sock this week:
Pattern is K6, P2.
I love the crazy colors !!!
Martha is working on the mystery socks also, but no pics this week.
She also finished up a shawl this week.
That's it....for this week....have a wonderful week....

Vacation is more fun than work
I guess that's how everyone feels....LOL. Work this week was pretty good, actually.
It was the drive home that totally sucked. Snowy, icy roads...Yuck.
I did not get much knitting done.
Blocked and kitchnered the Shallows Infinity Cowl/Scarf. I really really
love this scarf.
Shallows Pattern. Yarn is 50/50 Merino Tencel.
The tencel looks silk like.
I was going to put it away for a Christmas present next year,
but I just might have to keep it. It is wrapped 2x in this
picture. I love the color changes, no pooling.
Finished up first clue of Through the Loops Mystery sock.
Unknown yarn. It is kind of furry. but extremely soft.
One of my goals this year is to use yarn I have whenever I can.
It might not be the most perfect yarn for the project, but I think
I will love it.
And, they are for me, so it is all good.
I'm working my way down the foot on Joe's 2nd sock,
no pictures. I am hoping to get that done this week, depending
on the mystery sock pattern and how long that takes.
Not sure what is next. I have had a vest in mind for a
while. We'll see.
Ruth finished up her socks this week. Little purls of Wisdom pattern
from Knitty. Madelinetosh yarn.
They look nice and tall...I love the band at the top.
Here is her Mystery sock....Regia Extra Twist Merino.
Ruth is deciding what to knit next, also.
Martha made a hat for Tom this week, no photos.
My little kids are so cute....(if I do say so myself)...
Joe's sister gave us somesuper ugly fleece blankets for Christmas...
Mickey loves them! He makes little forts in the folds and spends all
day there.
I made Abbey sit for a photo shoot, since her pictures have not
been that cute lately.
She is such a dear sweet thing.
More fun next week.

Happy 2013
Wow, it's been almost a month since my last post. Not a lot of knitting
content to share....we have had a super wonderful holiday season here
at Knitatation. Randomness from the month:
Mickey loved his tree....it looks nicer with lights on.
I made meringues for the first time.
They were really good.
We had our annual ham dinner.
Abbey loved Christmas morning.
She got spoiled as usual.
Mickey had fun...he thought the presents were better unopened.
I finished up mom's socks...Madelinetosh Light yarn.
Waving Lace Socks, from Favorite Socks book.
She loved them. The pattern shows up great when on the leg/foot.
We had ribs, cornbread and mac salad for dinner on Christmas Eve.
Tiff showed up early Christmas morning. (who looks that good in the morning, just
out of bed????)
Joe enjoyed the kids opening presents.
I like that the kids like each other.
Mickey found a new hiding spot....near the ceiling of course.
I finished Tiffany's Lucy hat. It looks much much better in person, than in
these pictures.
I made yet another hat -- this one for my brother for Christmas. I wanted to use
up the yarn.....and hats are quick.....and brainless.....Pattern is K3, P2.
Tiffany finished up the scarf for her customer at the diner. It is sooo nice.
I finished up the Shallows scarf....yarn is from Ellens Half Pint...purchased
at Rhinebeck years ago. 1/2 Merino / 1/2 Tencel...
It felt like linen when I was knitting it, but softened up when blocking.
These blocking pics are awful, colors are more true above. I am going to attach
the ends and make a looping cowl. More finished pics next week.
I am starting the heel flap on Joe's 2nd sock. Going pretty quick on size 2 needles.
started...I picked some blue yarn, again purchased from
Rhinebeck a long time ago. No label....so I can't
give yarn detail. I think its from one of the farms..simple
yarn. Ruth and Martha are playing along too.
_____________________________________Ruth has been working on the Winnowing Shawl.
The edging is taking her forever. Isn't it beautiful?
Spirit Trail Fiberworks. Color is Kismet. About 4 more inches to go.
She is also making a sock...
Little Purls of Wisdom pattern from Knitty...Madelinetosh yarn.
Love the colors !!!
