Kinda Crazy

Hi Dear Blog Readers....the world is kinda crazy this week...in a very very bad way.  I am very thankful to have so many blessings.

Joe and I have had the flu this week and I didn't feel like knitting much. Thank goodness we are better!

I put the buttons on the "She's Like a Rainbow" sweater.  Not sure what size it is..maybe a 2 or 3.

The pattern called for fingering weight yarn, and I used worsted and followed directions for 2nd size.

I also dug out the Peppermint sweater that was just awaiting sleeves. I put it away in December to get the Christmas knitting done.

Two more good nights of knitting and the sleeve will be done.  I love this yarn...my fingers turn teal so it's the yarn that keeps on giving!

Ruth does not have much more to do before she can start bottom ribbing on her Ivy Line sweater.

Martha is starting the pattern on  her 2nd sock.

Her Naima sweater is coming along The pattern is very hard to follow.  There’s a shift on the yo patterning and the directions are goofy.  She  looked at it carefully with her friend Ann who is also a knitter, and I think she using yos for M1.

Ruth sent her a yarn present..so nice!

Have a good week dear blog readers. Pray for peace.

Better Week

 Hi Dear Blog  Readers,

I have had a better week -more enthused about knitting...yea!

The  She's Like a Rainbow Sweater is done and blocking.

Cascade 220 Superwash Yarn   Size 7 needles  Size 5 for ribbing and button band

I just set these little purple buttons on it so you can see what it will look like when done.

As I'm looking at these pictures I see a couple of tweeks I'm going to make.

Have made good progress on the 2nd sock.  This is a close up of the German Short row heel.

I love these colors!

Ruth has made great progress on her sweater this week. I love how feminine it will be.

Yarn is Hyvilla Oy Lili,  Looks like one fiber is mohair and also poly something. The label is all Swedish. Pattern is Ivy Line by Yoko Johnston.

Martha has her Naima sleeve stitches off the needles.

In her words:

I finally got off the sleeves so the knitting is going much faster.  I designed this to have a stand up collar bec I like that a lot, and I don’t like the stretched out neck look of the neck that’s stretched into the shoulder. Plus I really want my neck warm.  I was nervous about the yoke sleeve length which I had to refit to account for the neck.  Now I’m feeling much more confident and am knitting right along.  I did close up of the holes and I have 2” more before the shaping for the swing elements of the sweater start.  I’m hoping to make the sweater hip length and swingy. Not tunic length.  And I want to put the pockets in bec there’s a little cute color work there I want to do. I’m not sure I can make all those changes in the end but I have a lot of yarn and we’ll see how it goes.

She has a good start on the 2nd brown sock too!

In other news:

Mason was here yesterday...his Christmas sweater still fits!  It's so  nice and snuggly, lightweight so not a lot of bulk.

Joey and Casey are in Florida for a few days. Coming home late tonight.

We got to watch Benny while they were gone.  It's so hard to photograph, but we got tons of snow/wind/blizzardy conditions yesterday.  Notice how Benny's ears are blowing! The spot to the  left of that barrel was totally cleaned with the snowblower about 2 hours before this pictures was taken.  Joe made a nice spot for Benny to pee.  Thank goodness today is nice.

Have a great week dear blog readers....I hope your week is peaceful and knitful!

I'm going to say it outloud......

 Hi Dear Knitters....

I'm going to say it outloud...what you have probably guessed from the posts the last couple of weeks...I am UNinspired by my knitting lately.  This is the best time of year to knit and I'm not sure what's going on.  The baby sweater is waiting for more yarn, supposed to be here tomorrow. The baby is still  under 5 lbs and the sweater is about a size 2..so no rush to get it done.  I worked on the 2nd sock this week a little bit.  About 2" before I can start the heel.

Worked on a swatch for the Daytripper Cardigan I will be making at some point.

I tried to do a cheat swatch like they say to do and just run the yarn across the back.

I don't that that really gave me an accurate gauge...It felt too tight.

So I pretended I was making a hat.  Size 10.5 needles and I think the gauge is about 4 st per inch. I  need 3.5  It may bloom when its blocked. I have size 10 and size 11 needles coming tomorrow so i will add them to this swatch.  I am hoping the 10.5 work because I like that fabric.  We'll see.

the actual color is someplace in the  middle of these two pictures.  A nice green, not obnoxious.

Ruth is really moving along on her Ivy Line sweater.  It is very dainty and I love it in this color.

Martha's update this week, in her own words:

Here is my sweater.  I printed the pattern off of the iPad and ripped my sweater back to the collar.  I’ve been knitting a lot over the last few days.  This yarn is Jill Draper Ansel Natural color 3, gauge is 6-7 stitches per inch. I don’t recommend this gauge for a sweater. I’ll be knitting for years.  That being said, I am very glad I ripped this because following from the iPad was terrible.  The sweater yoke was all wrong.  I have 6 more rows for the yoke then I split for the sleeves which I will very much appreciate.  This sweater is Naima by Ankestrick.

Here’s a close up of the knitting. The yarn is very soft.

Here’s my sock.  They’re much too big for me, 70 inches so I guess I’ll give them to Tom too! He’s a lucky guy!  He got the last pair I made!

In other news...

I have had a cold so I could not see the kids this weekend..boo!

Ruth's friends are back at her backdoor!

We are gearing up to watch the superbowl tonight. We want the Bengels to win...time will tell...

Have a good week dear blog readers, I hope your knitting is more inspiring than mine is!

Sleeve Island

Hi Dear Blog Readers.  I hope you had a good week.

I am working my way on the 1st sleeve of the  She's Like a Rainbow Sweater.  The baby is still under 5 lbs so it will be a long time before she can wear it. Maybe use it for a blanket?  LOL

I should be starting sleeve #2 tonight. Main body size 7 needles, sleeves, size 6.

This will look great when it's blocked...I hope!

I mentioned last week that Mason wore one of  Tiffany's scarfs when we went sledding.

I decided he needed a little cowl to just tuck into his coat.  That's what knitting grammy's do, right?

Loosely based on Pearlneck pattern.

I opted to do stockinette stitch, instead of seed. Last 3 rows were garter to try and avoid curling.

Size 7 needle, acrylic yarn from stash.  Mason was pretty cranky today so no picture...maybe next week.

 Ruth finished up her sweater!

Green Mtn Spinnery yarn. Alpaca Elegance a combo of fine wool and alpaca. Dragonwell colorway. Pattern is Catboat cardigan by Amy Christophers.  It looks great on her. I LOVE the fit! Such nice knitting!

The new blue sweater yarn is Hyvilla Oy Lili,  Looks like one fiber is mohair and also poly something. The label is all Swedish. Pattern is Ivy Line by Yoko Johnston.  Martha recently made this sweater.

Check this out. This is her little grandson wearing the sweater she made him for Christmas. Beautiful fit!  Beautiful kid! Beautiful sweater!  Look at that face and how proud he is wearing sweater from Grandma!

Martha ripped her gray Naima sweater and started over. She had the directions on her tablet and they were too hard to follow so now she has a printed version.

She is almost done with her first sock!

Ruth, Martha and I all are going to make the Daytripper Cardigan, in Lopi yarn.  March has her yarn, and Ruth and I ordered ours.  We will wear them to Rhinebeck in the fall.  I have some things to finish first - sleeves on my teal sweater that I put down when I was making Christmas presents.  Ruth and Martha are both just starting other sweaters so not sure when they will start theirs.  The sweater has steeks, which I've never  done before, and will need to practice.

Have a great week dear blog readers..
