Workful

Work was very busy this week so I did not get a lot done
on the little baby sweater.  Almost one arm.

Today I cinched up the button holes.
See the are that looks like three lines in the
middle of the picture.  That is the buttonhole.
For baby sweaters I just do a double yarn over.
then I go back and whip stitch it to cinch it up.
Not the most beautiful button hole.
but it works.  Now I need to
get buttons.

Ruth is done with the colorwork part of her sweater.
I LOVE it...don't you?

Martha has been working on her paper all day so no
updates from her. She did work on her sleeves at the
beginning of the week.  More next week maybe.  Her class
is almost done.

In other news:
I have been very busy today. Did  three loads of laundry and
hung it outside including the bed sheets.  Now the bed smells
heavenly.....
I washed the inside/outside windows in the family room.

We got a few plants today.
Tomorrow will be very workful getting them
in the pots.

Joe dug out all of the pots from the garage so I can sort and
either keep or toss.  They all have to be washed.
I think I may spray paint a few that are ugly.

He planted one for me in the little garden.
See the pink!

Joe and Joey went fishing Friday night into Saturday morning and
caught walleye....
Yes, it took a long  time to clean them.

A lot of work for sure!  but worth it.

Joey and Benny came today. They worked outside and got
a lot done.

Until next week dear blog readers....Enjoy Memorial Day
tomorrow.  I hope you don't have to work.

Springy

The body of the Garter Yoke Baby Cardi is almost done.
I'm doing a blue garter band just until there are enough
rows to make a button hole. This was fun to work on
this week!  Since I am kind of winging the size, I have
no idea what size it will be..maybe 18 months?  And how
long to make the sleeves?  I have a Top Down sweater book
I can use for reference..

Ruth is traveling this week. Her sweater as of Friday
is coming along nicely.  Sorry to say I can't find
the picture she sent.....

Martha has worked on her sweater sleevess. She is at the
point to start the color work.

She sent a fun picture of socks. The class she is taking
(that is interrupting her knitting!) is at a museum so as
a reward to herself, she is getting a pair of socks everytime
she goes. These are hysterical!

The tulips are almost all gone in our yard.

I love the flowers this time of year.
My little flower bed is filled with Sweet Woodruff...my favorite.

I am feeling exhausted as I sit here and finish up.
Work was tough this week.
I'm going to go out and walk for a few minutes, then get ready
for bed and relax...and knit of course.
I hope you all have a wonderfull knitfilled week dear blog  readers.

Life is Short...Make it Sweet

One of my favorite bands, Old Dominion has a
song out now and part of the lyrics are
Life is Short...Make it Sweet....

That makes so much sense...

After the whole fiasco of partially felting my sweater
last week, I'm still not over it.
Tried it on today for pictures...it was still a little
damp, and a dash tight. I think I will  resoak it and see if i can
get some stretch out of it.

Still can't believe I did that.
But it's still nice, I guess...and I still have to fix the sleeves.

I finished the Llawendydd  shawl...and I love how it
turned out.

Blocked nice.

Size 6 needle.
Sport yarn - Bartlett
I added one stitch on each end, and slipped first stitch and
purled last stitch of each row, to make a nicer edge.

There is detail right down to the last stitch.

The last part went pretty quick

I probably won't get any wear out of it until next year.
Although it's 45 here today and very damp and cold.

Started a baby sweater for my friend's son who is having
a boy in August.
The multi yarn is Happy Feet DK
and the blue is Plymouth Select Worsted
Merino.
Size 6 Needle.
Pattern calls for sport weight, and I am using DK
pattern Garter Yoke Baby  Cardi
I think it needed that pop of bright
blue.  I added 5 stitches on each side for
button band.   Sweet!!!!

Ruth finished her sweater except for buttons...
I hope she sends a picture of her wearing it after
buttons.

She started a new sweater..  Humulus
Yarn is Jill Draper

Talk about sweet...here is the latest picture of her grandson

Martha finally received her needles from Knitpicks.
She needed different ones to be able to work all of the colors
on the Bri Story sweater  sleeve.

This sweater is a ton of work!  She is finishing up a grad course,
so not much knitting from her for a few more weeks yet.
It's lovely Martha !!

Martha's son has some beautiful glass blown pieces he
has created. I think both are so beautiful and different!

We had mother's day here today and it was nice.

Everyone brought stuff....lots of sweetness going on.

Vicky made a danish that was fabulous

Tiffany made kbobs, that had mini donuts and choc covered fruit

And, Tiffany made gourmet cupcakes...
She was sooo busy yesterday.

Mom brought fruit..so good and pretty

I made an egg/veggie cassarole and pancakes ( no pics)

Joey and Benny came...talk about sweet!

Mark was here but no pics...
here is Tiffany though
and the grands
Celebrated Vicky's birthday today too
Vicky has started a bee business, getting ready to
retire in a few years. It has taken her a year to get
ready for the bees. Classes, preparing a space, etc.

They got them last weekend.

She will have tons of honey...talk about sweet !

So cool, huh
This is Joel....

Have a great week dear blog readers....
I expect with the cooler temps it will be a good
week to knit.

What Was I Thinking ?

Well this post is about a series of unfortunate events.

Martha actually had time to knit today, and realized she
didn't have the right size needles for her sleeves...

what was she thinking....

after all of these non-knitting weeks...she could have
ordered them and had them ready.  She may be able
to use 16" circs....she has two more weeks of classes
left then can knit again.

Ruth is almost done with her sweater.
2nd sleeve is done and she is working on
the collar. I think it is so lovely and this
color will be so pretty on her.

Ruth forgot to close her bedroom door last
night and her kitty Lucy had her up at 5:30 am!
If only she had remembered...

what was she thinking....

So I've been moving along on the Llawendydd
shawl.
(Do people lay in  bed at night thinking up names
for these patterns!)

Once I got done with the hard rows, it's been
moving pretty fast...mainly stockinette stitch.

The hard rows were really hard.
Maybe it's just my brain. I had to look at chart,
then at legend, then at pattern again.  I could not
look and knit...it was like a 6 step process for me!
Jeeze
I am at 80 stitches now and go down to three...

Are you ready for my what was I thining?
It's a doozey!
I'm almost too embarrassed to write about it.
I can see Ruth shaking her head and Martha laughing.
I deserve both.

I wove in the ends on my sweater yesterday.
My sink and bathtub leak, so Joe brought in an
empty and clean kitty little container and put in
a garbage bag so I could give it a good soak overnight.
Genious...I know.

This morning after a good nights sleep, I wrung it out and
it looked a little big.  I had already soaked it two times before
during the knitting process.

Pretty huh

I love the colors and can't wait to wear it to Rhinebeck.

Well since my purple one was big when wet and I put
it in the dryer to just cinch it up a bit and I decided to do
it to this one.
Low dryer setting, 20 min...
Yea, these pictures are after I FELTED my beautiful sweater.
The good news is...it fits really well...
It is just not oversized like I was going for.

I did not bind off the sleeves in case after blocking
I would need to shorten or lengthen...Now that is a problem.
Being 3/4 felted, I will really need to pick the stitches out
and bind off and hope it does not look weird.

I will save it for another day. I really need to think about it.
So I know what you are thinking...

what was she thinking!!!!!

I don't know.
