My 465 yard summer

Hi Dear  Blog Readers....

Sorry for the absence last week....we had Joey's bday party here and I was exhausted by the end of the day.

Still working on the Lansbury shawl.  It's a pattern that you can customize to use all of your yarn. How has it taken me all summer?  My knitting mojo is a little off but I feel it coming back with the cooler weather.  Martha told me to just stop knitting it and bind off.  The thing is...the knitting part is extremely theraputic to me.  Weird I know.  I have decided that I'm going to continue but on and off.  I can't go too many days without knitting or I will lose the "memory" in my hands.  I really want to start a Christmas sweater for my little Mason.  Now to find yarn and pattern.  We will be gone next weekend so I would love to have a start on it so I can work on it then.  Anywhooo here it is...

See this part in the top right?  There has to be a lot more of that before its done.  It's a lacy section.

Ruth ripped the Friday Anew pattern she was working on.  She was not in love with the pattern or directions.

She ripped.

Started a hat with unknown yarn.  Ann Hanson pattern Snowflake.  I see some nice cables in there!

She made a pair of socks with Fixation yarn for her son's girlfriend. Totally cute.

Martha is  working away on her StrikkeKaffe sweater.  She is turning it in to a Henly neck.  After she sent this pic she had to rip and fix a bit of it. By now she's probably back to this point.  Lots and lots of work for sure. It will be so nice.

In other news:

Ruth's grandson turned 4 this week.  Little Ray is such a cutie pie!
I love his smile...sooo sweet!

Joey had fun at his birthday.

The sunrises last week on my morning walk were spectacular!

The boys had a nice ride this morning. After Joe got off Mason said Grammy's turn.

Joey and Casey went to Flower Lake (Saranac) lake this weekend.  Had a wonderful time.

Yesterday I made blueberry muffins and put some in tiny ice cream cups for Mason.  They are so small and perfect for his little hand to wrap around.  Oh and they taste good.

He approved!

Have a great week dear blog readers. NO blog next week.

Stay safe and be kind.

Slog days of summer

Hi dear blog readers!  Slogging our way through summer here. It has been noticeably cooler, which is a welcome relief; especially when I'm walking. Only downside is that the pool is much cooler. Too cool for me to swim today. Boo.  I try to knit and read outside as much as I can. The cool weather will be here much too soon.

I have been reading more.  This week I read a book called Last Holiday by C.L. Taylor.  It was pretty good. Not great, but good. I always currently reading a light romance that makes me laugh out loud.  I'm telling you this because there does not appear to be a lot of knitting done on the Lansbury shawlette.  There has been though.  Five more rows and I start the next section. The rows are getting quite long.

Ruth started a sweater. She is not that fond of the sleeve and body increases but she tried it on and it fits so she is carrying on.  Pattern is Friday Anew by Ankestrik. Yarn is Orchard View Lincoln Longwools.  Color is Silver.  It will be great!

Martha is working away on her StrikkeKaffe sweater.  (I have to copy and paste that sweater name everytime so I don't mess it up  LOL).  It's very nice.  She likes knitting it. Since she is not knitting to gauge, she will try it on soon to make sure she likes the fit.  Also, she has grown to love knitting outside as much as I do!  Notice all of the different colors in the third picture.

In other news:

I mentioned I've been reading more.  Besides getting actual books, I have the Libby app, and that is how I read digital library books on my tablet.  You just plug in your library card number.

https://www.overdrive.com/apps/libby

Yesterday, I discovered I can get knitting  magazines on there.  The Knitter is a nice issue this month.

I like this vest.  See the little book mark at the bottom of the page.

Here it is enlarged.  Click on that to get large page view of the pattern, and swipe up.  The whole pattern is there.

All so convenient.  Keep the books for 2 weeks unless you renew.  The Interweave Knits magazine was not that interesting to me. I sent that back right away.

The happy couple at pre-rehearsal on Friday. They are soooo cute!

Mason at pre-rehearsal on Friday.  "Ring Security".

Joe and Joey went fishing yesterday and caught lots.  Like it took Joe 5 hours to clean them lots.

Nice perch

The cooler weather made me want to cook.  I don't usually turn the oven on in the summer.

I made this recipe and it was SO  good.  Used pork sausage instead of chicken.

Half Baked harvest is my go to on-line recipe site.

And today I made stuffed peppers...almost done!

have a great week dear blog knitters.  Stay safe and be kind.  Till next week....

Ugh....

 Hi Dear Blog Readers!

It is sooo hot and humid here in Western New  York.  Not much knitting this week. The needle came out of about 20 end stitches and it took me a day to mentally prepare myself to fix it. Ugh.  Fixed quite easily though....carry on.   Then today I dropped a stitch in the middle where the points come together.   Ugh...

And it just got worse from there.  I am currently tinking back. I figure I will have to tink back about 6 rows at least..... 6 long rows...to get it right.  Such is the life of a knitter.

Ruth and Martha are at a very large family reunion. So no blog updates from them.  Ruth started a new sweater...more on that next week. And Martha is continuing on her sweater.

Tiffany and Mason came swimming this week...Had a blast!

We went to hear a one man band and have ice cream with them.  So fun.

Joey came Saturday to help Joe repair the pool stairs. Big project. So hot. Thank you Joey.

All is good here. I'm heading to the pool dear blog readers. I hope you are enjoying summer.
