Merry Christmas 2022

Merry Christmas dear blog readers!  This post is kind of all over the place...bear with me.

We had a blizzard (for real) here Friday night into today. Today is much better!  Our kids came for breakfast and presents.  Mom, dad, Joel and Vicky and kids will come for ham dinner tomorrow. They were totally socked in with snow.

Speaking of socks, I finished Mason's slipper socks.  he let me put them right on...they kind of slipped so I think I might need to make a tie to keep them on.

My boss sent me a pic of her wearing the cowl I made her...Diamond Cable Cowl.

This is a picture of the Christmas gifts I made this year.

The brother sweaters are my favorite.

Mason put his on and kept it on...and he put little brother's hat on  A little snug!

I always start a pair of socks on Christmas Eve.  This yarn Martha gave me in 2020.   Hermione's Everyday Socks.  I have made these before. Easy, and kinda brainless.  So far there are 37,611 pair posted on Ravelry.  Imagine if she charged $1 for every pattern....They are free.   Thank you!

I started and finished a cowl...like just finished...like now. Ruth made this free cowl pattern Ebb Tide  Cowl and it was nice, so I made it.   It's shorter, but I think I have a short neck because it's just fine.

Miss Babs Interpid yarn. Size 6 needle for ribbing, size 8 for pattern.  Cast on 120 stitches.

Ruth is working away on her sweater. I saw it in person this week and it is absolutely lovely!

Interlaken Pullover -- Bartlett yarn.

Martha made a John's Hallow hat for her son out of some dog yarn purchased at Rhinebeck a few years ago.

In other news:

Mason got a "horsey" for Christmas. Named it Spirit. He loves it!  Thank you Santa Claus.

This picture is from last week, and he looks JUST LIKE Tiffany when she was this age.

Joe and I had a nice Christmas dinner. The candles were all lit and it was very peaceful.

Merry Christmas dear blog readers. Hoping you all find peace this holiday season.

Christmas Week

Hi Dear blog readers...how was your week?  Mine was quite uneventful as far as knitting goes.  I was super busy at work, and pooped at night.

I did manage to keep up with the Just for you Clues every day. The purpose is a relaxing little bit of knitting every day.  I'm not liking it this time so why continue. I'm not a fan of knitting or wearing box shapes.  I'm sure the end project will be beautiful...just not for me.

So I ripped.  the Intrepid yarn is amazing, so I will find another cowl that matches my style better.

I did knit a little hat for Mason's baby brother this week.  It is currently blocking.

Ruth knit a beautiful cowl while she was away last week.  Ebb Tide Cowl. Free on Green Mtn Spinnery

Yarn is:  So I Made Some Yarn…by Melody. Hand spun. Merino wool, silk, bamboo and nylon.

She has made a lot of progress on her sweater.  Tiny needles. The pattern is really starting to pop!

Interlaken Pullover -- Bartlett yarn.  It's going to be so pretty!

Martha finished up her beautiful beautiful sweater...I think it's sooo lovely.

In her own words:

Here’s my sweater DONE!  It’s Moodna yarn by Hudson Valley Fibers, 40% Romney and 60%Merino.  The pattern is published in Outlander Knitting book, pattern is I Found Him, by Holli Yeah .  I’m going to knit Cam Cable Pullover by Anne Hanson.  Yarn is Mountian Mohair by Green Mountian Spinnery.  Mohair and wool.  Luscious Purple.

In other news:

We had Joe's family Christmas party here yesterday.  I'm just adding a few pictures. I will add more at some point it takes a long time to add them from phone photos...and   blog readers aren't as interested as family who reads this. We use it as kind of a history blog for family. :)

Jeanine and 3 grand kids

Donna and family

We did chinese lanterns outside. It was a beautiful night.

And sparklers

Have a good week dear blog readers.  NO blog next week due to Christmas Day.

Like Rabbits!

Hi Dear Blog Readers...the weather is yucky today here in Western NY. Kind of a snow rain mix.  Not sticking so just looks very muddy out.

This was a good knitting week for me.

Swatched this Intrepid yarn from Miss Babs.  This will be for the Just For You - knit one clue a day mystery cowl that starts on Tuesday.  You knit a little each day for some YOU time during the holidays.  The color will look great with my teal winter coat.

The John's Hollow hats are multiplying like rabbits.  They are a nice quick knit...I am going to make one more.  The yarn is all from stash..which I love!  The black on in the top left has Knit Picks fuzzy yarn in it.  All of them used Size 7 needle for the whole hat.  I love how functional  the hat is.  Beanie with ear covers. I see one in my future, maybe after Christmas.  They all need to be blocked.

Finished the Diamond Cable Cowl for my boss and gave it to her on Wednesday. She seemed to like it.

I only did one pattern repeat and that was plenty to cover the neck and not be too bulky.

Knitpicks Swish yarn leftover from a child's Wallaby I made a couple of years ago. The yarn is very very nice.

Ruth is away this week and started a cowl on her relaxing vacation.

Handspun yarn from Martha but she does not have the buttonband with info.

Pattern is Ebb Tide Cowl. Free from Green Mtn Spinnery.  I love the colors. I think it will be fancy!

Martha has worked on the collar of her I found Him  sweater all day. Now she is sewing in sleeves.  It is soooo beautiful. The color and pattern combo....wonderful.

Have a great week dear blog readers. I hope your knits multiply like rabbits...tis the season to knit a lot whether for you or someone else.

December...what???

Hi Dear Blog  Readers...It's December..what???  Time sure flies. I have a couple more gifts I would like to knit if I have time.. if not..no big deal.  Still have to block Mason's sweater and the two hats!

This week I made two little ornaments for Mason's Christmas tree in his room. They were SO FUN to make.  Arne and Carlos mini Christmas balls. The pattern calls for DK weight yarn, and size 5 needles. I used fingering sock yarn scraps, and size 1 needle.  Stuffed them with yarn.  So fun. Each one took maybe 3 hours.   Started with double pointed needles but too fiddly so moved on to two circs

Started a Diamond Cable cowl for my boss who is wonderful.

Ruth is working on some socks she started a long time ago.

She swatched the berry colored cone of Bartlett yarn she bought at Rhinebeck.  Not sure of pattern yet, but it sure will be pretty!

Martha finished up her sweater sleeves on the  I Found Him sweater.  She finished them yesterday and blocked and dried them. Worked on button band today.  Now the fun part...sewing together.

She picked out these pretty buttons. She likes them because they kind of match the triangles on the sweater pattern. I like them too!

In other news:

Joey and Casey went to the tree farm to get their Christmas tree on Friday. Of course, cute Benny went too!

Mason came for a visit to day. We had a blast.

Pancakes for breakfast

Bubbles in the kitchen

Nap with grampa

Posing for pic with Santa hat I made him.  This is the 3rd year he has worn it. May need a new one next year. Little brother can wear this one.

p.s.  He sat there and posed for about 1 second .by the time I snapped the 3 picture, he had 2 things off the tree and was running away!  LOL

Have a good week dear blog readers. Stay safe and be kind.

Thankful

 Hi Dear Blog Readers,

Thanksgiving is over and the Christmas season is on. We were very thankful for family time and rest and relax time this weekend.

I managed to make another John's Hollow Hat this weekend. This time with Berroco Vintage Worsted yarn.  Ready to bind off.

Ruth finished her Gentle Morning Sweater. Love love love how it turned out...and I also love the buttons she chose.

Martha

Martha is almost done with sleeve # 2 of her I FOUND HIM sweater.  It is sooo nice.

In other news:

Tiffany and Mark took Mason to the dinosaur exhibit at the Garden Factory today. Mason loved it.

Joe went fishing yesterday and Mason was checking out his catch.

Joe caught a lot of big perch.  Yea.

Have a nice week dear blog readers....
