And Just Like That.....

And just like that, summer is about over.  This is a sad week for me, but one of relief also.  I LOVE summer, but look forward to the cooler temps and better sleeping weather.  I never used to like Fall, but I like it more and more each year.

I worked on the  Alaska mittens quite a bit this week.  The first one is done, except for the thumb

The second one is ready to start decreases.

I did the whole thing on one needle, magic loop.  I actually liked doing it this way. I think the trick is to get a long enough  needle.

Started a pair of shory socks using Regia yarn.  Shorty socks for Casey for Christmas.  Done decreasing.

Also working on this totally totally brainless log cabin blankey.  I just found the  maroon color so adding it in.  It is fun to see it growing.  I am hoping the little people that come here will like it.  Using Knit Picks cotton yarn. Size 6 needle.

Ruth finished up her socks!

Vanilla pattern.  So nice!

She started, and is almost done with the Waggle Dance shawl.

Yarn is The Fiber  Company, Indigo Colorway.  So pretty!!!!!

Martha finished up the Kobuk hat for her son's girlfriend.  It will be a Christmas present.  She is hoping they are still together then!  This is a great hat pattern.  If you've never knit it...do it now!

This is some camel yarn her daughter gave her.  She is going to swatch and see how it behaves.

She is  making great progress on her  Big Y sweater by Von Hinterm Stein.  The yarn is Rhinebeck by Dancing Leaf dyers.  I love it.

In other news....

Mason came for a swim today.  He just loves to play with Joe!

And he loves peaches!

Have a good week dear  blog readers. Stay safe and be kind. We will be away next week for the holiday so NO Blog post.

Lazy update

 Hi Dear Blog Readers.

How was your week?  Hot here in Western New York.  I have another lazy update for you. Not much knitting.  Spending more time outside, which feels great.

Last week I forgot to show you the Easy-Peasy No Sew, Stay On Baby Booties I finished.

Encore worsted yarn.  Not sure if it's a boy or girl, so she can just pull out the string that does not fit.

The 2nd sock is coming along. Working on turning the heel.

Worked a little on the Alaska mittens.  Fun pattern.

Ruth is working away on her 2nd sock.  So nice!

Martha has a great update, and I'm adding everything in her own words:

First of all my hat is done being knitted, I need to attach a Pom Pom, right now I seem to have 2 and neither seem to be too matchy matchy? I guess I’ll put that on my Rhinebeck list to buy. 😄 This is Kobuk by Caitlin Hunter.  Minus some bobbles which I neglected to fit them in, ooops!  There are two yarns, first Our Fiber Flock Sport by Longmeadow Farm where we went for Rhinebeck 2.0.  Two tone, natural is the color.  I bought this last month at Sophie’s Surgery with Ruth At Lift Bridge out of the clearance bin.  I combined it with Brushed Alpaca by Azul, which was blues, purples and greens. It’s 70% baby alpaca, 12% merino, and 18% nylon.  This project is the one I primarily worked on on vacation.

Next are my socks.  I have to confess my screens are taking too much of my time.  My socks are not being knit too much. 😕 but I’m happy with the matching of the stripes so that’s good.  This is Uneek fingering yarn, super wash Merino, for socks.

Finally is my sweater.  I put it on a lifeline to check it for fit, and I have to put it back onto the knitting needle, and put the markers in again.  That’s slowing me down.  If I can just knit I’m better….sort of, reference sock comments.  This sweater is The Big Y by Von Hinterm Stein. The yarn is by Dancing Leaf Dyeworks, Charleston 100% superwqsh Merino, I think it’s called Rhinebeck color way.  I used the tint feature of my edit on the photos and this color is very close to the sweater. Aren’t I smart?

This is the only yarn I bought on the trip.  It is Layla Qing Fiber a very south after dyer in London.  The owner of the K1P1 knit shops is Manchester vt is a older waspy woman that traveled a lot as a kid in the British colonial nations.  She was very proud of this dyer, and yarn.  It is 80% merino 10% cashmere, 10% nylon.  Color is Oyster.  Not my usual colorway but of the choices I liked it,  thinking a spring shawl.

These are the waterfalls in Manchester Vermont.  It was nice to touch the water on the hot humid days at the end of the week. There are SOOOO many streams, creeks, and rivers in Vermont.  I never knew!

This is a funny I found!

Thanks for the update, Martha!

Have a great knitting week dear blog readers. Stay safe and be kind.

S & S

 Hi Dear Blog Readers,

This week's blog post will be S&S  short and sweet!

I have been busy enjoying summer this week so not much to show. Spending as much time in the pool as I can.

Main project has been the 2nd Intersections sock.

I also started a pair of Alaska mittens. Free right now on Ravelry.  Tiffany asked me to make her MIL a pair.  This is Plymouth Select Worsted superwash yarn, and Valley Southhampton (think kidsilk haze).

Barely started.

Ruth, on the other-hand, knit like crazy this week and finished up her sweater.

Morlaix Cardi by Regina Mossmer. Yarn is Peace Fleece. Blue Jay color way.

She just has to wait for it to dry and add buttons!  I LOVE it.  So chic

Martha is traveling and currently has no wifi. She had three projects to contribute, but could not make it happen. Darn!

Have a great week dear blog readers. ENJOY SUMMER.

August ? Already?

Hi Dear Blog Readers!  how can it be August already?  It is quite chilly here in Western New York.  Our pool is way too cold to swim in.

Since I did not blog last week, you would think I have a lot of knitting to show. NOT!  I've been busy with life this week. I was on vacation -- at home -- but still did not knit much.

I did finish the pair of Socks of Kindness.

Size 1.5 needle - here is pic of yarn label.

These are for mom for Christmas.  I like them alot!

I made one baby bootie for Tiffany's friend Lauren who is due in September. The other bootie is barely started.

Decreasing for toe on the Intersections Sock. Should start the 2nd sock today or tomorrow.

Here is another picture of Martha's finished Oban sweater. (picture quality is not the best)

She has a good start on her new sweater...The Big Y

In her words:

This is the RHINEBECK yarn by Dancing Leaf.  Ruth bought the same yarn and had a big discrepancy in the colors. She knit her sweater body out of the darker and sleeves out of the lighter color.  I started with my darker yarn and when it seemed to be lightening I started in with another ball.  Now I’m doing alternating rows.  I realized after knitting about 5” I was in the wrong size needle, one size too small. What’d I do? Switched needles and kept knitting! I’m just in love with this yarn especially the top.  I’m looking forward to touching and looking at all the yarn I buy this year.

Here is a picture of pattern and yarn info:

Ruth is almost done with her new sweater!

Marlaix by Regina Mossmer. Yarn is Peace Fleece. Blue Jay color way.

I saw her sweater in person this week and the color is so beautiful!

In other news:

Family came to celebrate my birthday last week.

My work sent flowers!

Tiffany and Mark took Mason to the county fair.  He loved it!

Ruth has a family of turkeys in her backyard:

The rest of these pictures are from the combined birthday party for my brother and me. Feel free to skip them. I post here because the blog is kind of a family photo album, especially for out of town family members.

Have a good week dear blog readers. Stay safe and be kind!
