Summer

Summer arrived on Friday - yippee.  It's about time.
Check out this summer full moon....this is at approx
9:10 p.m. on Friday night.

9:15 pm:

Joe worked hard to get the pool open this
weekend, though its still too cold to swim.
It looks beautiful.

I worked all week on the Through The Loops Mystery shawl.
I finished up Clue 3 on Saturday morning, just after the
final Clue 4 came out.  I hope to finish up this week. It is a
lot of knitting. Over 300 stitches and growing, so each row
takes a while.

The colors are better in this picture:

There are some very pretty shawls already complete:

Ruth is working on a 2nd sock, 1st one she finished up
a while ago....

K3, P1 pattern. Miss Babs yarn in denim colorway.

Martha finished up her tank. Look how nice it fits.

This is how she takes pictures of herself with her iPAD.
Cute!

In other news:

Made 3 batches of strawberry freezer jam yesterday. The
berries were HUGE, and so sweet!

Ruth is making some today.

The roses are so pretty this year I had to bring some in the house

 Happy knitting !

Rain Rain Go Away.....

We had had way too much rain here in Western NY since June 1st.
Our lawn is a muddy lake. yuck.  I was able to get in more summer
knitting than usual though.

I finished up the footies for my little friend Lauren.

Elann Esprit yarn. Size 3 needle. The color is actually more magenta.
I added a little ruffle top, and the heel is my new fav, double stitch heel.

Also FINALLY finished up the Corn Row socks.  Size 1.5 needle.
Lorna's Laces Comfort yarn. The color is actually a pretty chocolate
brown color.

I honestly didn't think I'd ever finish with these. And notice how one looks
longer than the other. Well, it is. I did one more repeat on one that the other.
And, since I am so sick of these freakin socks, I'm leaving it. The recipient
will have one leg that is more special than the other, that's all!!!!!

For a brainless project, I started another pair of footies for Tiffany.

Univeral Bamboo POP yarn.

Purchased at Webs.  Size 3 needle was too large, so went down to
size 2, 56 stitches.

My fun project right now is the Through The Loops Mystery Shawl.
It's hard to see it all squished up like this.   The strips are blue/green and the
lace is gray.  I really like my colors. I can't wait to see it blocked.

Ruth went away this weekend, and is working on a 2nd sock. But here
is here progress on her sweater:

Martha is working on Evening
Breeze tank by Colleen Simitherman, published in knitters magazine spring 2004.
This picture is from last week, so I bet she is done by now!

Here are some socks Martha made this week, while Tom was in the hospital.
Don't you LOVE the colors!Jarho yarn, mini ragi sock yarn

Look what Joey found pooping in his truck last week:
A beautiful little hummingbird...

It's raining again, I have to go close the windows. Might as well knit a few more rows.
Though we have had all of this rain, I'm so thank ful we have not had any of
the awful weather they have had out west.

Untitled

I worked hard this week to get the brown sock leg done.
These are like the never ending socks!

I am now up to the same point as I am on the 1st sock.  Wanted to make sure
each one used same amount of  yarn.  Now just the ribbing. Doing the
knits thru back loop--I think it makes it stand up better.  I have noticed that
a lot of knitters, like Yarn Harlot, only do about 1" of ribbing. I like to do
2" or more, depending on amount of yarn I have.  I think this helps hold
the sock up better, and is stretchy for big calves....

got a little more done on the fun footie sock:

I also started a sweater, took a while to get  good gauge. And I signed
up for ThroughTheLoops Mystery Shawl, and WendyKnits Mystery
Shawl. I think I will do TTL and wait on Wendy.  Too much going on
at once, which is another reason to get the brown socks done!

Ruth got a little more done on her nice sweater:
Copperline pattern. Cascade 220 sport yarn.

Martha has been working on a cute tank top:

Rowan hand knit cotton. Making the evening breeze pattern from
Knitters magazine spring 2004. Very pretty!

In other news:

We had a major rain storm overnight. Woke up to lots of flooding in the area:

The water is up to the car bumpers in this pic

A new lake in the field behind our house.

Today we celebrated Mom and Joe's birthdays.  Delicious food and
great company!

The little kids are waiting for cake. I made homemade carrot cake that
had carrots, nuts, coconut and golden raisins. Yummy!

Hmmmm should I start the mystery shawl, or finish the socks....
find out next week what I decided to do.
