Ruth, Martha and I are all doing socks this week.
I had not intended to do socks again. Well, at least not a pair
of "have to think" socks. Maybe a brainless pair.
I did a lot of swatching this week. I was determined to teach
myself two-color brioche. And I did. But not without lots
of mistakes. Brioche is sooo cool. Amazing. But two color
is a little tricky. The whole goal was to make a scarf to use
of the yarn from the Endpaper mitts. I did not like any of
the combinations. I even attempted a chevron pattern.
No go. Soooooo am now making a one-color brioche
scarf that is totally brainless....All of that swatching and training
makes for very dull blog posting....LOL
I cast on 72 stitches for socks, and looked around for
a pattern. Found the Rivercat Pattern - free on Knitty.
It has a lot of purling, and not sure if I like how the purls
look, but I think they will flatten out a little once I block
them.
Yarn is Fiber Optics - same as last pair. I'm determined to
use Rhinebeck yarn as much as possible. Just starting
the heel flap. Leg is 7" long. I don't like how she did
the heel flap so I'm doing the one I usually do.
So far, so good.
Ruth is working on yet another pair of cute little
socks for her granddaughter.. CUTE !!!!
Cascade fixation yarn.
Martha is working on a pair of socks using Lornas Laces yarn.
Pattern is Purl Lace Socks from Socks Socks Socks book.
She has a lot of purling in hers also.
I like how the pattern works with the yarn. So pretty!
Today is Easter and we got to see our new little
niece Faith. She is such a doll. All of the excitement
wore her out. She is 2.5 months old already.
Happiness is a state of mind, and knitting is a state of happiness !

Fantastic Finish
Ruth finished up her Highlander Sweater this week.
It's amazing! I saw it on Monday when it was 98% done.
this picture does not do it justice.
(Ruth: I'm sorry it came in upside down and I could not fix it)
The colors ad pattern are amazing. She did quite a few things in
between getting this done as mentioned in the previous blog posts.
She is currently working on a pair of socks for her granddaughter.
Cascade fixation yarn. Love the colors.
I finished up the Endpaper Mitts this week.
I did one with sticks and one with circ needles.
Liked the flow of the circs much better.
They are not blocked yet - hope to get that done this week.
Also finished up the Tesserae socks. I love these socks.
Fiber Optics Yarn - Foot Notes .
I did alter the pattern to make a ribbing top so they would
stay up.
They will be a Christmas present, though they fit me perfectly. I can't
believe I'm giving them away.
Martha did not have any knitting to share this week.
Here it is Sunday night and I have NO knitting to work on.
I played around with a two color brioche pattern this afternoon,
perhaps to use up the yarn from the mitts. I think I might make
it just one color brioche, and use the multicolor yarn. Also
swatching for a sweater.
Raise your hand if you think swatching is boring !
Have a great week.

Spring!
After a HUGE snowstorm last week, Spring is here TODAY!
Yippee!
Since last update I am done with one Tesserae Sock, and have
a good start on the 2nd leg.
I love this pattern.....so brainless, yet satisfying.
The yarn can be hard to read, because of the colors.
Harder than black even.
I am almost done with the palm of the 2nd Endpaper Mitts
I tried best as I could to make them match, but it is not working
out perfect....not even near perfect.
I love them anyway. Mickey has been laying on my lap nights so I cannot
work on these when that happens....LOL. Hope to finish up this week.
Martha is almost done with her Francie sock, made from Classic
Elite Alpaca. They are for her daughther's singing professor....
She said he's a very snazzy dresser, not afraid of color and design,
so she hopes he likes them.....I like the way the pattern
works with the yarn.
Ruth is almost done with her Highlander sweater. She has the sleeves done
and is working on the buttonband....it is soooo pretty.
She finished up her Through the Loops Mystery socks....I think
they turned out wonderful. They are for her granddaughter.
Speaking of her granddaughter, check out this picture...she is a dancer.
I think she looks like a FairyGod....
Joe and I took a ride to the Holley Falls today - since it
is so pretty out. People come from miles around, all year long
to see the falls.
Happy Spring !
