Summering Along, Part 3

I sound like a broken record, but not much knitting this week.
Walking, swimming, fishing, etc,
I managed to finish La Playa. See the blue string in the picture...
that is where I had to start the 2nd ball of yarn....

See how much yarn is left?  I probably could have made the next size up...
disappointed! but I followed the yardage directions on the pattern.
Still enough to make dishcloths!

I thought it looked so pretty soaking
Got it blocked today....
Still just a little damp
I will model it next week...once I figure out how I will wear it.
It's going to be in the 90's this week, so too hot for a shawlette.

Still working on the 2nd sleeve of the baby kimono

Remember this sweater I started a long time ago?
Rhinia....I have made peace with the fact that I am going to rip
it out and start over.
I modified the pattern quite a bit but made the collar too short.
I want it long enough to fold over.  damn!
I have also made peace with the fact that it probably won't be ready
for  Rhinebeck.  sigh

I started a brainless sock for mom - Opal yarn.

Note the pattern.
Row 1  K3, slip 1
Row 2  Knit

Ruth is working on Hermonie's everyday socks.
She got this far at beginning of week and ripped
out due to pooling.  Cherry Tree Hill yarn.

Martha was on vacation this week and has started her 2nd
sock.  (see last week's post for her 1st sock).

Joe and I went fishing yesterday and caught one fish
that did not get photoed. It was a hard day.

That's all folks!

Summering Along, Part 2

Busy busy week. Walking, swimming, staying out and enjoying the
summer, so not much knitting. This will be a short post

Le Playa Shawl  still  44 stitches left. have to
get down to 3.

Baby Kimono, working on 2nd sleeve

Beautiful. Saw it in person, it is LOVELY
She started a Hermonie's EveryDay Sock.
Yarn is Cherry Tree Hill superwash marino
This pattern is really nice.
Martha finished up her first sock,
Angular Velocity from Knitty.
Madelinetosh yarn. NICE!  She is starting #2.
Had the family over for Joel's and my birthday celebration
today. His is July 16th and mine is at the end of the month.

Summering along

Not much to share this week.
I finished up the socks made from
Martha's gift yarn.
Hermonie's everyday sock pattern.

And blocked them.  Nice yarn and pattern combo.
I used a red reinforcement thread for the double stitch heel.
Toe up.  You can see a little pooling on the sock on the left.

With these done, I had nothing "brainless" to work on.
I was killing time looking thru Ravelry and came across
the LA PLAYA shawlette pattern. I was drawn to the colors
first, I think.  The the way it draped.  She used Quince & Co.
sparrow 100% linen yarn.  I remembered that Martha had gifted
me some linen yarn a while ago for dish rags which I never made.
to make the shawlette size, I needed 200 yards of main color
and 100 of contracting color.  The yarn Martha gave me was
FibraNature Flax - 100% Linen.  To make a long story short,
a quick look at Ebay and $6.80 later, I had enough for the
shawlette. I chose tourquoise as main color and navy as cc.

I like the look of the star lace design, but didn't like knitting it.
The yarn is very splitty.
It feels like twine in my fingers, but it promises to soften up
once washed. It needs a good blocking. See how the right edge
is diagnal.  Decrease one stitch every right side row, down to 3 stitches,
so I have a ways to go.

This week I also worked on the Seamless Baby kimono
I have the body done.  Worked in stockinette rather than
garter, but I did put a garter edge on it.  It will really need
a good blocking to look good. Reminder yarn is tencel sock
yarn.

I'm working on the first sleeve

This is taking much longer than I anticipated. ugh!

Ruth is working along on her TTL mystery shawl.
She eliminated clue 4 and is doing one color.
It is turning out lovely!

In other news, the little kids are hot hot hot
I changed the sheets in Abbey's bed, and Mickey the little brat, crawled
right in there like he always does.  Oh well, who doesn't like
clean sheets.  Let's hope Abbey gets to find out!

This week's fishing report:
Joe caught more Walleye.  Not sure how much longer the run will
last.
He is doing great this year.
Have a great week...enjoy the summer weather~!

Fishing 101: The Difference Between Perch Knitting, and Walleye Knitting

Joe and I went fishing Friday/Saturday for the holiday.
I went boating, but ended up fishing. Friday we only
caught one fish.  We fished for Walleye in the morning,
and Perch in the afternoon.

This is Walleye Knitting:

Hermonie's Every Day  Socks. This is sock 2     - brainless.
I should be able to finish it up this week.
When we Walleye  Fish, I have to be able to throw the
knitting down at a moment's notice.  Joe has 4 rods
going at once. I help watch for bites, grab the net,
steer the boat. It can be exhausting!  LOL.  I worked hard
to turn the heel on this before we went so that part was done.

This is Perch Knitting:
Business Casual Socks. Free on Ravelry.
Every row has 4 cable stitches (I use a toothpick) and
takes a lot of concentration.  When we perch fish, I don't have to
do anything. Sometimes drive the boat but that's all...very low
stress!

I love the colors of this yarn
I worked hard before we went to get the 3" ribbing done so I didn't
have to drag both colors with me.  The blue is Knitpicks stoll...lovely
yarn. Nice a squishy

The pinky bluey minty yarn is from  Indy Dyer, I've had
in stash for a long time. These socks are for Joey's girlfriend.
She saw socks with this pattern over the winter and told me how
much she liked them.  It took a couple of trys to get the color
combo just right with the pattern. She is size 10 so I usually have
to us two yarns for her to make it stretch.

I started a baby kimono this week also. Using Ellen's
Half Pink Tencel yarn.  Not sure if I will give this or save
it for another little boy.
I chose to do it in stockinette rather than garter.
The garter was not as soft....I might try to make it a little
bigger than the intended size.

Also this week, I made a little car hat to go with the baby
sweater last week with car buttons. I still have to block
both of them.

Wow, it's amazing how much knitting I get done with a few extra
days off!

Ruth and Martha have been busy also.

Ruth is working on Clue  4 of Through the Loops Mystery Shawl.

So pretty. Final clue comes out tomorrow.....

Martha is working on a sock that was on Knitty.
Angular Velocity pattern.
Madelinetosh yarn. So pretty!

This is the big fish Joe caught.
9 lb Walleye

This is the big catch on Saturday.
(he's laughing because he has a funny wife !)
