Summer vibes

Hi dear blog readers!  I was on vacation this week and really feeling the summer vibes.  It was beautiful all week (except Saturday -- it seems to rain most Saturday's this summer).

I had to order needles before I could start a baby sweater for the new baby. How can I need needles? I have all of the sizes...well except for 24" 1.5 and 2.5.  Small stitches for sure...they came on Thursday...

Baby Fir Jacket. Cascade Heritage yarn. Size 6 months.

Also made progress on Sophie Scarf.  The distance between the orange and green marker is how far I knit after increases were done before I started decreasing.

Ruth made a lot of progress on her Petals  Shawl by  Ann Hanson.

Martha finished her beautiful Stephen West Eyelet Burst Shawl.  It's so fun.  I love her colors.

Hedgehog Oh So Fine. Merino

She started a fun color sock!  Yarn Hero Color Mix Sock.

She took her sweater out of "time out" and decided the fit is good...she just added some stitches to the underarm.  Carry on! Yarn is Druid’s Rest by Shirsty cats blue faced Leicester

 In other news:

These two boys were here to visit today.

The kids came swimming a couple of times while I was home.

Jayce's first swim in the big pool. It was 90+ here on Friday.

Back to work this week.

I hope to get a lot done on the baby sweater...  Have a good one. Enjoy the summer dear readers.

Summer Lovin

 Hi Dear Blog Readers...

I love summer, don't you!  I've been so busy I  have not knit much, which is ok. I'm spending a lot of time outdoors...oh yeah....and I work full time. LOL

At the point on the Sophie Shawl that I don't want it wider, but want it longer before I start decreases, so I'm just knitting for a couple more inches.  I am doing fingering weight vs. dk the pattern called for so kind of winging it.

A couple weeks ago I started a hat for Jayce. I liked the pattern, and thought it would be cute for him.  After 4 inches of Boring Ribbing, I have determined that the blue yarn is a little too scratchy for a baby.

So ripppp and find new yarn.

Ruth started a lovely, very detailed shawl called Petals by Ann Hanson.  Oak Meadow Alpaca Yarn.

Pretty huh.

Martha is working on her Stephen West Eyelet Burst Shawl.  I love the color transitions.

It takes her 15 minutes to do a row. When it's done she does has to do an icord around the whole edge.

In other news.

Jayce came for a visit on Friday.  He is very engaged now.

Tiffany took Mason to the splash park/playground....

Have a good week dear blog readers.

I'm off of work for a week...I hope I have fun things to share next week.

Fun Weekend

 Hi Dear Blog Readers,

We had a fun weekend here...lots of family time.

I knit a little on the Sophie scarf. Fun colors!

And finished up the log cabin blanket. Its small. Mason said he liked it. Took forever to weave in the ends.

Jane, who has a great blog and  reads mine, left a comment last week that if she lived closer she would weave in the ends.  I wish she did live closer.  (Her blog is always nice if you want to follow her)

Ruth went to visit Martha this weekend. They visited Green Mt Spinnery and she purchased this beautiful green yarn.  Combo wool and alpaca so it’ll have a nice haze.

Martha has made nice progress on her Eyelet Burst shawl.  So pretty and fun!

In other news...

We got over 3" of rain yesterday.  We needed rain, but that was a lot all at once.

Today we had a 60th birthday party for my brother Joel and we celebrated mine while we were at it. LOL

Tiffany did some fun decorating, and brought party hats.

Joe was chilling with the boys.

Another year......

Tiffany and I went to a park on Friday.

Farm animals...lots of room to run and play

We had a blast.

Have a good week dear blog readers.

I don't crochet, but I am

Hi dear blog readers....another cloudy Sunday here in Western NY!

I never quite got the hang of crochet...knitting is more my thing.  I did learn how to do the chain stitch, single stitch maybe it's called.  Crochet seems faster, and easier to find and fix mistakes...but since I don't do it, I wouldn't know.  I think you sometimes need to crochet in knitting, and that is where I am on this little blanket.  I am done with the Log Cabin part, so I am crocheting two rows of single crochet around the edge in the pretty teal green.  I'm using it for a pop of color in the spare bedroom, which I don't have yet. LOL

This is the back. I have a whole night of tieing the ends in I think.  I am so glad this is done.

Ruth has finished the body knitting part of her beautiful sweater. Now to add the button band.  Reminder she had 2/3 of it done before, and totally ripped because it was too big.   Levenwick by Gudrun Johnston. Imbue yarn by Brooklyn Tweed. Orchid colorway. Can't wait to see the update next week!

Here is Martha's  Eyelet Burst Shawl.  She wrote a good description so here are her own words:
The color in these pictures Is very yellow, unfortunately.
I’m knitting the Eyelet Burst Shawl by Stephan West. I was attracted to this shawl because of the variegated colors.  I’m starting with the pale pink, then the darker pink and the greenish one and the dark one. I have to knit 100 rows of the pale pink before I add the next darker color.  I’m getting close, maybe 10 more rows.  I just put the shawl on a size 47” needle!  I bought some 60” needles for this project.  I add 6 stitches, about an inch, every 2 rows so it is growing quickly. I don't know  if you can tell, but there was only the light pink and green primarily in the colors of this ball from the first end I started knitting from.  I switched because I wanted the dark pink to show too. I like it a lot better now.

I love her colors!

Hedgehogfibers yarn has beautiful colors!

In other news...I saw the little grand joys this weekend but no pics. (I call the grand boys grand joys)!

They are so much fun. Jayce is so smiley!!!

I think I will make them matching hats...and I have to start knitting for the new baby due in November!

We are getting a little grand daughter!  I'll have to find the right pink color so it does not look like pepto bismal.  Her mom loves pink...always has.  She will be born around Thanksgiving so will need lots of wool to keep her warm this winter.  YEA!

Have a good week dear blog readers...stay safe, keep cool, and be kind.
