Bang out a couple of sleeves

Hi Dear Blog Readers!  Are you in the midst of the winter storm?  It's ramping up pretty good here as I type.  We are supposed to get 10-14ish " by end of day tomorrow.

Great knitting weather!

Modern Daily Knitting always does a Bang out a Sweater for the month of February. This year the pattern is the Waffle Pullover. The same sweater I've been working on since...well..forever. So I decided to bang out a couple of sleeves and get it done by end of  February hopefully.  I had a good start this week, then I noticed I was off by a stitch so I had to tink back a couple rows.  On the right track again.

I finished up Jayce's scarf.  He wanted to wrap it around himself. I think he's such a cute little model.

Ruth finished her red sweater -  Rolling Rock, Thea Coleman (Baby Cocktails).  It still needs buttons. Yarn is Flora and Fauna Farm. Romney yarn in Thulite colorway.

Perfect fit!  Looks so pretty on her!

She started a new sweater. Pattern calls to knit sleeves first. Look how crips the cables are. Pretty color.

Dark Roast Smock pattern by Anne Hanson. Yarn is a Brooklyn Tweed cone of wool. She is getting the second sleeve started.

Martha is working away on her sweater. She just finished the first bindoff at the armpits. It's going to be so very pretty.

 In other news:

I have made bread today. I like to do that during a storm. Makes the house feel cozy.  Joe made cookies.

I cleaned out the bathroom cupboards. They are very deep and some stuff was expired a long long time ago.  I am lucky I get to work at home and won't have to take a vacation day tomorrow.

I hope you are all safe and warm.

And the beat goes on...and on...and on

 Hi Dear  Blog Readers.

This week was a mixed bag of weather here in Western NY.  Thursday was a snow day.Our weather was not that awful, but a little East in Rochester was pretty terrible. Any 30 minutes West in Buffalo it was really bad.  A bigger storm is expected early this week. I hope it stays more west. Winter has been sooo very long already here.

Not much knitting time this week. I finished Mason's scarf. It's too wide, but when he's an adult he can still wear it.

The boys got haircuts before they came and look extra cute (with their purple sucker lips). :)

Jayce wanted one so I started his Thursday night and it was ready for him to try on Saturday morning.   His stripes are random on purpose.

Ruth started a project using  Brooklyn Tweed yarn on a cone that he was selling when he got out of the yarn business. It will work for Anne Hansons Dark Roast Smock. Really pretty color!

An look at her sweater! Tada!! so pretty. The neck was a little loose so she went around it in a single crochet not picking up all of the stitches and it's much better.

Martha has sad sweater story. She had to rip.  Her gauge was on when she started, then the sweater was the wrong size. She swatched in a different needle, and here she goes again. I love her tenacity.

 In other news:

We had a little snow left after the thaw so Joe got the snowdog out.  Mason loved it, Jayce not so much.

It was 38 out with no wind. Great day for packing snow, making snowmen and snowball fights.

Mason made this one totally totally by himself.

See my haircut?

I've been reading this book this week. A slow conversational book. Did you read it? What did you think?

I like it well enough. It's very slow going.

Have a wonderful week dear blog readers.

Getting to the Next

 Hi Dear Blog Readers...

How was your week? Mine was quite uneventful since I started back to work on Monday.  My work is so very busy. I'm exhausted at night.  I remember when I would stay up late knitting...maybe when I retire.

I worked all week on Mason's scarf, carefully adding in the colors he chose. I had a couple FaceTime consults with him.

Pattern is a squishy ribbing. Multiple of 3 + 1.  My scarf has 24 stitches.

It's 49" long.

Size 9 needle so it went fast.

Each row is Knit 2, Purl 1. End in Knit 1.  Somehow it works.   I'm not binding off until he sees it and we decide it's the right size.

Gray is carried with  the new color. Each colorblock is 3.25".  It reminds me of a funky Old Navy scarf.  It was fun getting to the next then the next then the next color. Now Jayce wants one.  Eeekkk  I'm over it but they will only be little for so long and they get what they request..

Now to weave in all of the ends.  Jane from Nebraska does not mind weaving...why don't we live closer!.

By the way, Jane and Karen both  have very fun blogs that I read every week.   Hi girls!

Ruth is working away on her beautiful pink Rolling  Rock sweater. She is on the 2nd sleeve. It is going to be stunning on her!

Martha is making great progress on her Mulled Cider pattern by Baby Cocktails.  She chose it because it used the same kind of yarn she had, Green Mountian Spinnery. The color is different than the green sweater she just finished.  It's going to be so pretty!

 In other news:

I got out to walk yesterday and today finally. It's been a while with the snow and rain and ice we've had. The wind storm on Friday was incredible. Too many so far this year already.

I have missed the early morning sunrise and hope to get out more now.

Happy 2026

 Hi Dear Blog Readers,

Happy New Year!  My wish this year is all of the best for all of my readers.

While I was off I knit up the Piccina Scarf.  It's a cute quick project.

I opened my Rhinebeck yarn drawer and grabbed the first one I came to. Tidal Yarn. Fingering 450 yards.  There is enough to make two or more probably.  It's been in my stash for a very long time. Long before covid.  What was I saving it for?  Who knows!  It's not blocked yet. Once that is done, I think the i-cords will stretch a little longer and I can make a bow.  I just realized the scarf is on backwards on top...it should be worn outward...

Mason was over on Friday and asked if I could make him a scarf.  Sure what color. Rainbow. Martha had given me an advent box of yarn last year so I let him pick his colors.  He added 3 or 4 more after this picture.  We are adding each color with gray (so it goes faster!!).  He approved the first royal blue color.

I did end up making my brother a hat before Christmas.  Very very simple. He liked it.  It looks like two purl bumps in the ribbing but its where the yarn was bigger.   I think its Greenland or Greenfield  yarn. No ball band. I can take you to their spot at Rhinebeck.  Softest yarn around.

Everyone seemed to like the presents I made them. Mason loved his slippers.  Jayce does not keep much on his feet but smiled. LOL.  Tiffany teared up when I gave her the shawl I made while we all sat with dad in the hospital his final weeks. Vicky my SIL liked her socks.  I haven't had time to make her any in the last couple of years so she was due. I gave Joe a ceramic cup I made which he uses every day that it's clean.

Ruth is working on the sleeves of her Rolling Rock sweater. So pretty. This color will look great on her.

Martha finished up her green Stick and Stone  sweater!  Beautiful!  Lovely buttons!

Now she is working on a sock, and swatching for another green sweater from Green Mt Spinnery.

She didn't have enough yarn from Rhinebeck she decided. Drove to Green Mt  Spinnery and got more yarn in same die lot!  Pattern will be Netherwood.

In between she started a fun colored sock!

In other news:

We had a wonderful Christmas.  Went away for a couple of days and came back to relax for a couple of days.  Ended up watching Joey's kids overnight Fri and Sat because Casey had a little flu and Joey will be   in a wheelchair for a while. They are darling.  Age 1 and 2.

Tomorrow I go back to work. I can hardly believe it's happening already  Sigh.

This was Christmas evening.

Christmas day

Have a good week dear blog readers.  I'm going to work on Mason's scarf while I watch the Buffalo Bills game.
