for lack of a better title.....
I turned the heel on the blue socks today....not much
knitting this week.
I hope to get a lot done this week - surgery Friday...not sure how
long I will be out of commission.
Ruth finished up her red socks and they are soooo nice!
Martha is also doing socks....
This is the same pattern as Ruth's red socks above:
Started as mock wave cable socks by Ann Budd in Favorite socks,
but she modified the pattern using YO instead of M1 and adding a
few stitches to make it work for her foot.
63 stitches ... god those girls have skinny legs...I am so jealous!
LOLOLOLOL
The kids were getting along today....
which is always a plus!
No blog post next week, but hopefully, in two weeks, Ruth
and Martha will be able to share their projects. Both are really
involved in socks right now! Yea!
Happiness is a state of mind, and knitting is a state of happiness !

Spring!!
Welcome Spring 2012
We are having May weather this week - bring it on!
It was 70 here yesterday, but I still wore the gold socks
for a while...just because - NICE!
Finished up Wingspan this week, and blocked it yesterday.
Wingspan
Jawolle Yarn
Size 3 needle
8 wings
I really liked this pattern. I could have knit a couple more
wings, but I like the size.
This week I started a pair of socks for my friend Betty. I
made her a pair a couple years ago and she talks about them
all of the time.
Pattern: Dad's Easy Cable Socks, from Socks Socks Socks book.
The pattern calls for thicker yarn and not many stitches, but I
adapted it to smaller needles and yarn. I am using size 1 needles,
and 72 stitches.
It is an easy pattern to memorize. Eight row pattern, and only have
to think on two rows.
Yarn is Ultra Alpaca Fine, which is totally soft. It is very splitty
though.
Ruth and Martha are knitting the same socks this week!
Ruth used Knit Picks Gloss yarn. The pattern is Child's first sock.
Martha used Heritage sock yarn for her's.
In other news:
Ruth is visiting her granddaughter, Moriya in Oaklahoma this weekend.
What a cutie!
They painted pottery today:
Notice those sparkly blue nails! So fashionable.
Happy knitting blog readers...I have to go take a walk!

Swirls
I am finally done with the goldenrod swirls socks.
They were a joy to knit. I used Wendy Johnson's
toe up sock recipie, short row heel.
Yarn is Soft Touch Ultra 100% Wool from
Shelridge Farm, purchased at Ravelry this year.
Size 2 circ needles. I love using 20" needles for
socks.
Also, I am on the last wing of Wingspan.
I am doing 8 wings. I would have enough yarn for
a few more, but I think I will like it a little smaller.
Notice the bright sun coming in the window. So so nice.
Ruth finished up her wonderful socks this week.
From book ..Knitting Socks with Hand Painted Yarn.
Pattern is Whirlpool Socks. Yarn is Cats Paw Yarns.
No color listed. I left the beads out.
Martha finished up a nice pair of socks this week, but no
pictures. Hopefully next week.
It is so beautiful here today. Enjoy the nice warm week ahead!

Workin it
A very uninspiring post today. I am about 1/2 done
with the leg in the gold sock from last post. I really did
not work on it much this week. I am also starting Wing
#6 of Wingspan, also from last post. I am trying to get
these two projects done before my surgery on March 30th.
Yep, I'm having carpultunnel surgery. I'm starting to
get anxious about knitting. I know I will be out of
commission for a while (knit wise that is).
Martha came up with a fabulous idea that she, Ruth and
I should knit surprise shawlettes for each other for
Rhinebeck. We have to use stash yarn. How fun!
I am knitting for Martha and Ruth is knitting for me and
Martha is knitting for Ruth. This weekend I found the
pattern and some really special yarn from stash so I am
set to go. I am not starting mine until after surgery, in
case my gauge changes, etc. Who knows maybe by
then some new even better pattern will appear.
Ruth made our Rhinebeck reservations for us and we
realized that it is a weekend later this year....

I will have pictures to share next week.
