Summer Staycation

I was on a stay (stay at home) vacation this week. It
felt wonderful to be home and not at work. Ruth and I had a
wonderful day at Canandaigua Lake on Monday, in spite
of the rain.

Ruth and Martha gifted me some very soft
100% Superfine Alpaca from their yarn crawl a
couple of weeks ago. It's hard to tell but it is blue
and green. Yarn and Soul yarn.
Thanks, girls!!

I think it will make a nice shawl.
 Pattern yet to be determined.
Got the new swift up and running.
It is big, but works good.
Started a new shawl for me for Tiffany's wedding.

 Yarn is Tucker Woods Estrellita
Lace (with sparkles!)
The colored yarn is provisional cast on so that will be
coming out at the end.
Pattern is Marduta
Size 4 needle.  Just barely started.
I needed to start this weekend so my brain
knew what it was doing during the week after work.

Sofie sweater is ready to have band on front picked
up and knit. I'm nervous about that.  Have not done a sweater
like that  before, but I'm sure it will be fine.

The 2nd sock in Panda Silk is coming along.

Ruth has knit a couple of dishcloths while she contemplates
her next big project.

Martha is traveling to Miami to take her daughter to
college.  Safe travels girls!

In other news, this week was my birthday.

Joey got me flowers and cooked a wonderful
chicken dinner.

Flowers from Mark too
Tiffany got me jewelry to wear to the wedding..Stunning.
and a cheese board for our parties!  Can't wait to use it.

Joe and I went on a date last night and saw fireworks in
tiny Byron NY.  Who knew they had them...

Have a wonderful week...tomorrow is August 1st.
Yikes!

This and That

Continues to be so very HOT and Humid here in Western NY.
I did get quite a lot done on my sweater.  I have 10" done
from where I separated sleeves. I am going to try it on at 14".
Directions say 16" but I'm short so...

I am using yarn called for in pattern.  Even same color!
Garnstudio Drops Belle
It's not bad to work with.

Tiffany modeled the shawl I gave her for wedding.

Ruth finished up her first sock.
K3, P1 pattern. Mrs Crosby yarn. Toucan color.
The color is so nice and versatile.

She started a shawl....Turritella by Corrine Ouillon.
Yarn is Tucker Woods lace weight. Starry starry night color with a little sparkle.

Martha has been looking for smaller (not so hot) projects to knit.
She finished up this cute Pepperberry Cowl, yarn/pattern gift from
Ruth. She said she likes the casualness of it...and it's sooo soft!

She has not reknit the collar on her sweater yet. Waiting for cooler
weather.

She has also knit a nice scarf.
Another Really Easy Lace Scarf"by Nancy Shroyer.
She chose not to knit the lace border.
Another gift from Ruth!

I think the girls and I are carrying on nicely in this heat...!

In other news....

the family came for a picnic yesterday.
thank goodness there was a nice breeze so we could enjoy
the outside without being too hot.

Joey spent a lot hot day in front of the grill cooking chicken,.

This tomato plant is up to my chin.
The basil is doing well also
Some of my other favorite flowers

Have a nice week dear blog readers.  Stay cool.

Phew! It's Hot

It has been very hot here in Western NY and in fact we are officially
in drought conditions.  The little bit of rain seems to go a mile north
or south of us.  HOT to sleep!
I managed to work a bit on Sofie sweater this week.  The body after
the arms are separated are supposed to be 16". I'm going to try it on
at 14" to see how it looks. I'm quite short and hate too long sweaters.
My goal is to wear it this summer.  It is, after all, a summer sweater!

Martha is working on a cowl from a kit from Ruth. No other
details at this time. I love the colors!
Ruth is working on a pair of socks...no picture this week.
She is traveling.  Look at this cute little car she saw at
a car show yesterday:
She has a "think" for MiniCoopers...and drives one herself...
so cute!

Joe has been watering his garden like mad.

He and I went fishing today and caught two.
No one was catching much, so we were happy with 2.
No pictures...darn!

Joey is cooking chicken for dinner.

The boys finished up the brick work since last blog post.
I like it a lot

KeeLee got a  haircut this week and feels sooo much better!

and Mickey did not!
Happy knitting this week. Stay cool.
