Our Superbowl Sunday...1st of 2 perhaps???

 Hi Dear Blog Readers....

Here at our house today, it's superbowl Sunday. Our beloved Buffalo Bills have to beat the KC Chiefs to move on to the real superbowl.  I just hope its a good game, and the refs don't make any major blunders.

Not much knitting from me this week. I had a super busy week.  Knit on the 2nd sock a couple of nights. Looked at Ravelry for more sweater patterns.  I think I found one I like, and can get gauge.

This Midland sweater caught my eye, and apparently everyone else's, on Ravelry.  I may have to check it out..not for the green yarn I'm swatching right now, but maybe I have other yarn. It's kind of unremarkable, but it's the construction that has everyone interested.

Ruth is zooming along on her Spinery Jacket sweater.  Knitting the sleeves right now.

Martha is working on her 2nd sock.  She thought the colors would be more similar. Such is the life of a sock knitter!

Her latest sweater picture of Harriet's Jacket. She will work on it today.

In other news:

We saw the kids a lot this week.

The boys loved this coloring mat.  The little pens are filled with water and each section has different colors on it. So they just doodle and feel like they are painting.  When they are done playing, and the whole thing dries, it turns back to white again so they can start over. Very cool.

Little baby.

Charlotte loves to play in the kitchen

Pictures of Martha's daughter, Emma's engagement!  She picked out this beautiful antique wedding set a bit ago.

Such an adorable couple.  Wedding will be in June.

Have a good week dear blog readers...

GO BILLS!

Gauge is a real thing

 Hi Dear Blog Readers...

I spent a lot of time today trying to figure out gauge for a sweater I want to knit.  Too much time!

My gauge on sport weight yarn is 5 stitches to the inch, and the sweater is 6" to the inch. I tried different needle sizes...no luck. Which stinks...I really wanted to make it work.  Once you start looking at Ravelry, there are so many options...but it really comes down to gauge. Ruth is becoming a real expert !

I looked at different patterns...even some DK patterns work with my gauge.  I like to knit simpler sweaters. And for me, really, top down raglan fit the best.  The one I was going to knit is bottom up, but I could have made it work.  I am going to make another swatch on a size 6 and see what that gets me. May open up more pattern ideas to work from. I have a lot of big sweaters so I want to get a better fit also.

Ruth is working away on her sweater. She just sewed the shoulders together.

She started a pair of socks in MooRoo yarn.  Colorway is Moodswing. I love the colors!!!

Martha is working away on her sweater. Look how pretty it is!  She ripped out the lace and redid it. Looks great.

In other news:

Here is a picture of three of the little kids. I don't have many pictures of them all together.  They had  play date at Joey's today.

Have a good day dear blog readers..knit on...and check your gauge! hahahah

Musings on a Sunday

 Hi Dear Blog Readers...

A few musings on a Sunday.  January feels like the longest month to me, how about you?

This week was a tough one at work..again!

I managed to finish up the snowflake sweater and may take a picture next week. It's finished all but the collar on each one.

I dug out the Hermione's everyday socks I started a long time ago. I was ready to decrease for the toe.

I really don't care for these colors, and wonder why I bought the yarn? I think because I love Fiber Optics yarn, it the colors were different. They will be nice in the fall.  Anyway...I wanted something different for the toe. I have the exact same yarn in gray so I decided to add it in.  Then I thought...hmmmm.how would a slip stitch pattern look?  So I did it.

I knit the first two and last  two stitches of each row.  Im happy with how it turned out.  This is an after-thought heel.  I will do both heels at the same time when the 2nd sock is done.  Maybe a stripe heel?  Hmmmm I'll have to muse over that a bit.

It looks like I missed some stitches here, but its actually where the gray came in on the multicolored yarn.

Ruth is zooming...and I mean zooming along on her Spinnery Jacket.

She said it goes really quick.  It's going to be so very nice.

Martha has decided to rip the buttonband on her sweater and start over.  She is never afraid to rip...so no new pictures from her this week.

In other news:

We saw the kids a lot yesterday which was wonderful, but no pictures. They are all so fun.

We are excited about the Buffalo Bills game today and really hope they win!

I'm going to start sock #2 while I watch.

Have a good week dear blog readers...

Knitting Away

Hi Dear Blog Readers...Happy 2025. So far this year, I have actually  had a little time to knit. I'm savoring each stitch.  Started back to work on Thursday...grrrrr.

I'm working on the collar of Jayce's sweater. Once that is done, I'll work on attaching the ends in the middle of each sweater.  I'll admit I'm totally sick of these and can't wait to move on.

Ruth finished up her sweater!  Asterie by Natasha Hornby. Yarn is Longmeadow farm. Wool, llama, and alpaca.

Check out this amazing fit!  So beautiful.  Longmeadow farm yarn is becoming my favorite!

She started a new sweater.  The Spinnery Jacket pattern.  Yarn is from Flora and Fauna Farm. Color is Sea glass

Martha's sweater is coming along beautifully! .Harriet's Jacket  pattern.

She was worried the pick up stitches were not quite right, but after blocking it's perfect!

Flock of turkey's outside of her window today.

In other news:

We have all of the decorations down, and I'm glad to have the house back to normal, but I do miss the pretty lights on the trees.  Saw all of the kids this weekend, but I was so busy playing I didn't get any pictures.

Have a great week dear blog readers...Knit on!
