March is going out like a ?

Hi Dear Blog Readers!  How have you been for the last two weeks?

We have been very busy in a good way.  Joe and I traveled by car to Nashville last week.  More on that later.

These socks are from Fiber Optics yarn that I started for mom the day before we left. The color is a really pretty red and black. Not sure where this pink is coming from!

The pattern is called Diamonds in the Fluff and is free on Rav. The pattern is PITA.   See the toothpick sticking out of the yarn ball? I use that for the cables.  It was interesting going 75 mph down the highway trying to do that!  So far I have done 7 pattern repeats. Tried them on last night and they are definitely too tight for mom. Dang!  She loves socks with patterns. I will gift these to my Sister in Law and do something different for mom.   Red, think red people!

This is the progress on the Daytripper sweater. The socks are actually more this color, though the sweater is more brickish red.  Gave it a little bath last night to figure out how long it will be.  Had to add 4 rows to ribbing.  I just started the first sleeve.  So far so good.

I used size 10 needle for ribbing, size 10.5 for body, and size 11 for yoke. I hope the yoke is not too lose.

On the way home from Nashville we stopped in Milford Ohio at the Fiber Optics yarn store.   They carry mostly their own dyed yarn!  A full store of it!  It was so interesting.  I got this yarn in the Waterfall colorway, Kashmir sock base.  It as soooo hard to decide. I had three different ones in my hands before I picked this.

Have you ever seen this before? These are their yarn washing directions.  I have never seen the white vinegar used in addition to the wash.

Trying to capture the color.

Meet David. He was working at the store when I stopped.  He is so interesting to talk to.

He was at Rhinebeck last year. They never know which employees are picked to attend.  He  gave me quite a tour of the store. They dye the yarn there also.  He went to a men's only knitting retreat last year and said it was so fun.  Said there is still a stigmatism about men knitting.  He does a lot of double knitting, and just finished his first sweater!

Ruth finished up her Ivy Line Sweater while we were gone. Sooo beautiful, and feminine! And great fit!  What a lot of work!

Here is progress so far on her Daytripper sweater.  It goes so fast!  I suspect her sleeve is probably done by the time this is published.

Martha finished her socks. Sooo cute!

Here is the start of her Daytripper sweater.  She ordered more  yarn so hopefully it comes soon.

I like her colors so far!

In other news:

Martha shared this picture of her spring flowers:

Joe and I had a great time in Nashville.  I did not take many pictures, but a lot of videos of the music. We LOVE the music.

Tiffany sent this picture of Mason while we were gone, and they came to visit today. It's amazing how he changes in a week.

Have a good week dear blog readers.  Stay safe and be kind...and KNIT

Never Have I Ever.....

 Hi Dear Blog Readers.....

Cold and blustery her in Western New York. I'm offically!! ready for Spring!

I finished the hat!  It's so soft.  Mason was kind enough to model for me.

It's cute and soft. I will wear it a lot when I walk.

Wore my new socks this week.  Such a good fit..love the German  Short Row heel.

Started the Daytripper sweater this week.  It goes FAST!  I don't have much time to knit after work anymore.  Never have I ever made a (mostly) red sweater.  I have red hair, so red does not look good one me.  Sometimes I can wear a blue red.

Made some mods to the pattern.  On the row with just one blip of color, I added a 2nd blip (see the green in the red diamond, and in-between the diamonds.  Was carrying the yarn anyway so why not.  Also eliminated two colors, and used the tealy green.  I have colors, but they were too bright or too dull.  I like what is going on here.

So far so good.

I started a pair of socks for mom for Christmas. Red!  Never have I ever made mom red socks.  Only two rows done.  Next Friday we are taking off for a week of driving and I need some drive knitting.  Will probably leave the sweater home...

Ruth has the sleeve almost done on her Ivy Line sweater.  Just love this sweater!  She is itching to get her Daytripper started. I bet she will get hers done super quick.

Martha is starting the heel on her 2nd sock. She said they don't match. I don't see it.  I love the color of these socks.

In other news,

Ruth sent a picture of her adorable!! grandson. So cute!

We are traveling next week so no blog.  Have a great two weeks dear blog readers.

Stay safe and be kind.

March Came in Like a ?

 Hi Dear Blog Readers...

I hope you had a good knitting week!  The weather has been strange. I would say, came in like a lamb, except for today. The winds were crazy here. Tons of big branches down in the yard again. We were lucky, and still have power.

The Peppermint sweater is done.

I like the fit, maybe a tad big, but it will be nice on a cold winter's day.

This next picture is more the real color.  The yarn bled like crazy when I soaked it.

Tess Designer yarn.  Mohair/Merino blend

Size 7 needles.

The designer used size 9 needles to open up the lace more. I chose to do a smaller needle and make a larger size.

The socks are done!  I usually make myself one pair a year.
I really like the colors.

Ruth and Martha gave me this Aero yarn from a trip they took last year. It includes a teal pompom.  Martha has been having a tough week so I started this hat and I think about her with every stitch.

The fluffiness is great.

4" of ribbing and rest is stockinette.

Ruth has finished the body of her Ivy Line sweater. It's just lovely so far.

Martha worked on her 2nd sock....

In other news:

We got to watch Mason on Friday. This is after his bath. Nothing like a clean little kid!  The smell!

Everyone was healthy enough to finally celebrate Tiffany's birthday.

Have a good week dear knitters.

Stay safe and be kind.
