Take 2

 Hi Dear Blog Readers,

I have finished up the hat that will match the baby boy sweater.

Plymouth Select Yarn   Size 7 Needles   Cast on 80 stitches.

I have not blocked yet, that will take care of the wonky stitches.

The sweater has no buttons yet, but I have decided on some so that is progress, right!

Just now finished up my son-in-law's giant size 13 socks.

I didn't think I would ever get these done. 

I did cast on for the 2nd one so it does not lag.  This is the first pair I have ever made him that was not from Hawthorne yarn. I think he will like something different.

Last Sunday (because I like to start new things on a Sunday when my brain is quiet) I cast on for the 2nd Fern & Feather.  Take #2 of this sweater.  The first one I made a couple years ago, and that is the one I shrunk!  This yarn is from virtual Rhinebeck 2020.  CeCe's Wool - Local Cozy Corriedale.  So far I like the yarn a lot!  Size 7 needle.

Ruth is done with the first sleeve of her Forager Sweater. Looks so nice!  She went to see Martha this week and they went on a yarn adventure. 

Blue in middle is  peace fleece from Harrisville.  At Green Mountain Spinnery she bought the small bundled skeins. The yarn on the right is a kit from the shop called Elegant Ewo in Concord, NH that they’d made up for da crofters kep by Wilma Malcomson. Ruth has  been wanting to do some Shetland color work for a while.  It looks like a nice project that won’t be overwhelming.  

I can't wait to see what she knits up in the new yarn!  All so nice!

 

Martha  has both of her sweater fronts done.  Yea!

The one on the right is the first one she did and the one on the left is the one she just finished.   She thinks they look big but they overlap on the front for an asymmetrical front so she's hoping they will do.  The one she just finished is about an inch bigger so she's hoping it shrinks a little when it dries because she made them with lots of detail to the row/stitch counting.  She has  to do sleeves next which she will do by knitting them in.

She is working on this cute hat for her son while waiting for sweater pieces to dry.

Gettin it Done!

 Hi Dear Blog readers,  I hope you have had a good week. 

As I told you in January, one of my goals this year is to learn new things.  I learned how to do Magic Loop method using one needle for "in the round"  things.  It was pretty easy to learn. It is fiddly and not that fun, but I do think the sleeves look nice.  Here is my finished baby sweater.

MK#1 Baby Cardigan by Minimal Knits.

Size 7 Needles   Plymouth Select Yarn  Size 6-9 months.

I am currently deciding on buttons.  It is a very plain looking sweater so I wanted the buttons to make it pop.  I cannot find nice baby buttons any more.  And this size is not really baby.  Sigh.  Stay tuned next week for the finale.

I decided to make a  matching hat. Blue trim and the hat will be the green. Dull knitting.  LOL.

 Ruth is winding down on her Forager by Isabelle Kraemer. 

She finished up the braid at the bottom and is now doing the ribbing.  I was able to fondle it on Friday and it's a very airy yarn. Yarn is Harrisville Shear.  Felt so nice.  Will be warm without being stifling hot.   It is soooo nice!

Martha was able to get a lot of knitting done this week.

She is almost done with her 2nd front!

You can tell what a lot of work this sweater is!  It is beautiful!

Mickey found a basket that I was going to take outside.  He is sooo funny!

The weeping Japanese Cherry Tree is at peak beautifulness today

The hyachinths are at peak and smell so wonderful.

I love spring and all of the flowers !!

Sunday, Again

 Hi dear blog readers...how can it be Sunday again already?  We have had such nice weather this week, but today we are getting much needed rain here in Western New York.

I have knit on the  MK#1 Baby Cardigan by Minimal Knits. sweater all week.  The stockinette part seems to be taking longer than the garter. I'm hoping to get a lot more done this week.  The Plymouth Select yarn is so nice. Great stitch definition. I got a long needle and will try to learn magic loop or the sleeves. Wish me luck ! This is the third baby boy sweater this year and I'm over it!  LOL 

Ruth has made great progress on her sweater - . Pattern is Forager by Isabelle Kraemer. 

I think it looks great - love the color!

Martha was busy with work this week so did not knit enough to send an update.

In other news:

Joe/Joey went fishing and caught some large perch.  Not many but they are big and will make a meal for Joe and I.

Mason is 6.5 months old now. Loves being outside.

 

He scooches his feet and his car moves across the patio.  He is very tall for a 6 month old

We took a walk one day at lunch

Easter Sunday

 Happy Easter.  It was a beautiful day here in Western NewYork...cool but sunny!

 Mom called me yesterday and asked if I had time to work on some of her socks she sent her a while ago to have the bottom holes fixed.  I've been avoiding that task.  It's hard on my hands for some reason. But I got two pair done for her.  

The fix is not very pretty at all.

 I hope are still comfortable for her to wear.

I have one more baby boy sweater to make for baby coming in 8 weeks. My friend Laurie's 2nd grandson.  Pattern is MK#1 Baby Cardigan by Minimal Knits. I am making the 6-12 month size.

Plymouth Select Superwash yarn.  I love this yarn!

Got a lot done on the giant socks this week. Working my way down this size 13 foot.

I am totally sick of them because they are so big and take so long.  

When I started the bottom, I switched the bottom needle to a size 2.25 and kept the top needle at 2.5.  I think it would have been too stretchy and not as sturdy in the 2.5 size.  Because of this, I increased two stiches on the bottom.

Made the heel bottom on both colors because this yarn feels so soft.

The yarn is Huntington. I added the wrong picture last week for the yarn.

Ruth started a new sweater this week!

Yarn is Harrisville Shear. Pattern is Forager by Isabelle Kraemer. 

Looks like a great sweater!

 Martha is working away on her sweater.

Here are pictures of the left front and back of her Oban sweater blocked. Martha says:  "This pattern looks so straight in shaping but if you look at this you can see it is shaped? Maybe the model was very thin in the pattern pictures so you don’t see the shaping! Anyways here's to hoping it fits"

I think it looks great!

 In other news:

The family came for Easter today. It was so nice. Joe and I made a nice ham dinner. They all brought food so it was nice.

This is Uncle Joey and Aunt Casey with Mason. He was very social today.
