Quickie Update

 Hi Dear Blog Readers..

Quick update today.  The sun is shining, but oh it is so cold out..So windy!  We had tons of rain and wind yesterday so the sun is a welcome site. Notice the sun on the dinosaur sweater! A good start on the 2nd sleeve...yea!  I'm looking for a spring shawlette pattern to knit next. I need some lace in my life!

Ruth has a lot done on the Tomten sweater for Baby J.  It is koolaid yarn she dyed a long time ago. I love the colors and it's sooo soft.

Martha has a good start on her second spring colored sock!  Love the colors!

Yarn is MooRoo...talk about fun!

Joey sent me this picture from their back yarn yesterday (that is Lake Ontario). The lake was angry due to the wind but the double rainbow is beautiful

.

Have a wonderful week!  Stay safe and be kind.

MARCHing long

 Hi Dear Blog readers....

I think March is the longest month...seems to drag for me. I love April..everything starting to pop with color.

I had worn enough socks to wash them this week. I soak them for a bit and then put the in the towel to get water out and put them under the heating elements to dry.

Made progress on the dinosaur sweater.  I need to measure Mason's arm to make sure it long enough/not too long.

Ruth started a baby sweater but felt it was too big so rippppped.  We've all been there!

Martha had snow days at school for four days this week and was able to finish up the baby sweater.

Totally totally adorable. I love the colors!

She also finished up her fun sock!

Mason had a popcorn movie night...I remember those nights with our kids..precious memories.

Have a good week dear blog readers.

Stay warm!

Updates and Questions and Observations and....

 Hi Dear Blog Readers!

I have some questions for my readers...I hope you answer so we can get to know each other better!

Currently 19 degrees in Western New York.  I actually live in Holley, NY. Where do you live?

This March we have had more snow that any other month this year. Friday we got about 10" that dropped fast and furious. More coming Monday and  Tuesday.

I worked a lot ( what is a lot for me) on the  T-Rex sweater for Mason.  About one more inch and I will start the ribbing.  I'm not following the pattern exactly.  Kind of winging it.  I did not put ribbing around the collar because the LopiLetti yarn can be a bit scratchy. I know he will wear a long sleeve shirt underneath so by doing a rolled collar it should not touch his skin.  If it's too wide, I'll do a little cinch.

The color work will settle once blocked.  The lopi yarn is really forgiving.

Ruth and  Martha contribute to the blog every week. It's really "our" 'blog. They are sisters.   Ruth has been my friend for years and she introduced me to Martha 16 years ago.  It's fun to talk about knitting with them. We seek help, and bounce ideas off of each other. It makes it even more fun. During the week I may get a random knitting picture.  Ruth and I email every day and she usually send me her current knitting, which I love.  I'm curious..do you have anyone that you talk knitting with?

This week Ruth put the final touch - buttons - on her adorable Peanut sweater. It looks so so cute don't you think!

She would love to get her 2nd Knitten done so she can move on to something else.

Martha wasn't feel the best this week and it was hard to concentrate so she  put her sweater in time out. She will restart again in a bit. In the meantime, she started this adorablesimple  raglan sweater for a baby boy.  Green Mountian Spinnery yarn that’s 80% wool and 20% cotton. Can't wait to see the progress.

Both of these sweaters are for my new grandson who will arrive end of April - baby J.  See above note about good friends!

Observation:  This week I read something about what not to wear over 50 so you don't look old. One thing was big knit sweaters.  Pardon me!  I wear my sweaters proudly. They are so comfy..and actually move with the body. Stitch by stitch is was made by me for me or someone else.  I'm not sure who wrote that article, but he/she probably never had a nice knit sweater.  Sigh.

Question: What do you think about the "tuck".  Tucking your sweater inside the front of pants. Or tucking  t-shirts in the front of pants. I've tried it and I just don't think its for me.  How do you feel about the "tuck" ?  Do you tuck?  These days I'm all about comfort.  Sigh.

In other news:

Pictures from my early morning walk on Friday.

I was the person standing in the road to get a good angle.  This was before the big snowstorm

Mason at his happy place. The library. Tiffany takes him a couple of times a week after work if he wants to go.

Have a great week dear blog readers...I hope you get some rest this week. This time change really messes me up for a week or two!

Fun Week

 Hi Dear Blog Readers...

The weather has been all over the place this week here in Western NY.  A lot of snow melted today and we need a tiny fresh coat to cover the mud.  I did not have an especially fun week, but our  knitting is fun this week.

I finished up the Hermonie Everyday socks.

Afterthought heel.

Uneek Fingering.  FUN colors. Decided I wanted to double yarn the heel because it is all wool, and no nylon. The next colors were the lime green and I didn't want that color on  the heel. It would have been fun, but I thought it was break up the purple too much. So I pulled the purple from the ball center.  Luckily, I had enough purple to finish.

I need to take more risks I think!  At first I didn't like these colors together, but when you look from a distance, the fade is kind of stunning. And the green would have made a cool heel.

Have quite a bit of yarn left, even though I doubled it.

I am really trying to knit down my yarn stash this year.  And I have so much LettiLopi yarn left. I started a little sweater for Mason. He can keep it here if Tiffany does not need it at their house...I always need a play sweater for him here! Dinosaur sweater....  It will not use up much yarn though.  :)

Ruth whipped up a FUN little sweater called Peanut this week.  Free pattern from Green Mt Spinnery.

So cute!  Knit side to side.  Pretty darn adorable, don't you think!  Leftover yarn from Rhinebeck.

Martha restarted her FUN  sweater.  Here's the second try at her sweater.    Yarn is Shirsty Cat Designs, by Kelly Straub, called Druid’s Rest.  It’s 100% SWBlue Faced Leicester.  The pattern is Elisabeth Blouse by Petit Knit.

Have a great week dear blog readers...knit like the wind..spring will be here soon and we will want to be outside!
