Labor Day

Hi Dear Blog readers...I am writing on  Friday since Joe and I are headed out to Oneida Lake in a few minutes.

I ripped the vest....sigh..  The designer  got back to me and once she wrote the pattern directions in a different way they became very clear.  After a few rounds, it became very clear to me that the pattern was not showing up with my yarn.  Rip Rip Rip.  I think if I had a different BIG cable, it would be ok.

Now I'm thinking I will not make anything with that yarn at this time.  Thinking about making the little boys sweaters for Christmas.  I like to have a special project for lake knitting.  I have the socks, but they are not really special. LOL

Have a great week....chat next week.

Little Bits of Knitting

 Hi Dear Blog Readers,

I have only done little bits of knitting this week. I have two pattern rows done on the vest and ran into a problem. Have sent a question to the designer...I hope she answers soon.  I can't watch tv and knit this...at least not yet.

Worked on the socks this week while visiting with dad. I think I should have used a size 0 needle..I'll have to be really careful with these.

Ruth has worked a lot on her Camp Cardigan this week.  She blocked and pinned it so the stitches behave before she carries on.

Martha ran out of yarn on her shawl  so she ripped back and just reknit what she gad in garter. Pretty!

She found this beautiful yarn in her stash in the meantime....still thinking about what to make with it.

In other news:

Ruth's grandson turned 6!  Here is a cute pic of him playing with new bath toys she got him for his bday.

I saw my grandkids this weekend but was so busy playing I didnt get pictures. Here are a couple Tiffany sent me.

We went to Joey's for his birthday yesterday. Fun!

Have a good week dear blog readers!

Repeat

 Hi Dear Blog Readers...

It probably looks like the pictures are a repeat of last week..but nope, they are different.

I ripped the bottom of the vest out because it was way to big. Started over with less stitches and a smaller needle.  The sock is ready for the heel.

Ruth started a new sweater and she is really far along already.  Yarn is Jill Draper Makes Stuff. Kingston yarn in Rondout St colorway. Pattern is Camp Cardigan by Knitwise Design, Linda Courtney.

Martha is in the flower pattern of her Silverleaf shawl. So pretty.

She made a liner for her trunk to store her sweaters in.  So nice don't you think!

In other news:

Note to Karen and Jane...I tried to leave comments on your blog but something is off with my account I guess.  I don't know how to fix it...any ideas are welcome!

I saw all three grands a lot this weekend, but was so busy playing I did not get pictures.

Have a good week dear blog readers!

The Plain Wins

 Hi Dear Blog readers....

This has been a week for sure.Work was really hard this week, so I've been resting a lot this weekend.

I started a vest this week from yarn in deep stash.  Scrumper Waistcoat.  I think it looks a little long on the model.  I will make mine a little shorter and another reason is I want to have enough yarn!  It will have enough patterning to pay attention, but enough plain work to be able to watch tv..I hope.

I have 6 rows of  seed stitch done and I will try it on now to see if it fits my hips.  I had to fudge numbers to make an in-between size. I think it will work....fingers crossed.

I had a very specific pattern in mind when I bought this yarn a few years ago, but now I have no idea what it was!  ha!

Started these socks to knit while I'm visiting dad at the nursing home.  Started with a pattern, but switched to plain knitting since it did not show up as the yarn is so dark. I'm happy with plain socks!

Ruth is very close to being done with her Redhook vest made with Bartlett yarn. She is working on short rows now and said they take a long time.

Martha is working on her Silverleaf shawl again  now that she is home from vacation.  Very pretty. She is about to start a patterning section.

In other news:

I listened to my first ever book on tape this past week.  I needed something to occupy my brain with the longish drive to/from the nursing home to see dad everyday.  I started with one book and it seemed like it was going to be R+++ rated. Abort abort abort!  I found a drama set in Australia that kept my interest.  Called The Soulmate.    I liked it!  I'm glad I can check audio books from the library...they seem pricey to purchase.  This week I started a RomCom.  But I noticed I miss listening to music so I will do a mix of book and music and see what happens.

Tiffany took her kids to a climbing park yesterday.  Apparently, Mason got some dad and seven random kids involved in a hide and seek game. HA!

Charlotte came to play for a bit today.

Have a great week dear blog readers.!

Busy busy busy

Hi Dear Blog  Readers..things have been busy here the last two weeks.

And tonight I'm so tired this will be a quick post....that's summer for you...

Finally finished up the pair of socks I started a long time ago.

Not my best effort, but they are made for me, and I will love them this winter.

Fiberoptics Footnotes yarn - Snowflake pattern from Pacific Knit Company Card deck.  I thought I was clever to only put snowflake on front and back, but should have done it all the way around.

Ric Rac Shawl is finished.  Yarn is from Woolroom at Longmeadow farm.  Cut yarn with every color change, but was smart and tied in ends as I went.

I love how this turned out.

Ruth is working away on her beautiful Redhook vest.  It is purple, not red like the picture shows

Martha has been in  Germany for the last two weeks.  This picture is the day she and her niece took a 40 mile roundtrip bike ride.  She did all the things while there.

We saw the kids a lot in the last week.

Tiffany and I took her kids to the county fair.

We swam

And ate

And zoo'd

Saturday Joe and I took a trip to the NY Fingerlakes and discovered Muranda  Cheese .  They have bands from 2-5 and have cheese tastings. So fun.  A destination for sure.

Have a good week dear blog readers.
