Holiday Season Starts Now

 Hi Dear Blog Readers,

The holiday season is in full swing at our house. We had Thanksgiving here and it was so nice.  I was pooped the day after and just lounged around.  Not much knitting to show. I was busy two days before prepping, and two days after recovering and putting the house back together.   This is the only picture I have from Thanksgiving...I asked Tiffany to take it before I got busy.

This is Mason's  The Afternoon Knows. sweater.  I have to put it on him before I continue to make sure the arm length is ok.

I started a sock to knit on in downtime.  My favorite plain pattern, K3, Slip One, Row 2 - Knit.

This yarn is from  Rhinebeck 2017.  I love the fun colors.

Ruth finished her fun socks.  Plain Pattern.

Here is a picture of the three pair she recently finished.

Sock on the left is yarn color color mix sock yarn. Plain no pattern sock
Sock in the middle is Uneek sock yarn and knit on the Lift Bridge Yarns new sock tube knitting machine.
Sock on the right is Yarn Circus sock yarn also knit by the knitting machine. She added the cuff ribbing, heel and toe to the machine knit tubes to make socks.

Ruth started knitting on her lovely sweater again now that the socks are done.

Green Mtn Spinnery yarn. Alpaca Elegance. Dragonwell colorway. Pattern is Catboat Cardigan by Amy Christophers.

Martha is working on a really nice sweater for her son. Here is the back blocked.

She has a start on the front.

This is  the pattern she is using:

This is the lovely yarn she chose.  Tom tolerates alpaca the best of any yarn.

I have the lights on our fake tree and a few decorations. See the snow in the window. We have had a little today.  I'm going to add the red ribbons when I'm done with the blog.

Have a knitfull week dear blog readers.  Stay safe and be kind.

More of the Same

 Hi Dear Blog Readers....

More of the same means status quo--title of last week's blog. And that's ok!

Joined Mason's sweater to kit in the round. It's a process but it will work out to look cute!

Peppermelon sweater is bound off at the bottom...yea.  I will probably start first sleeve over Thanksgiving holiday.

I am making Mason little tiny mittens to go with his navy blue hat. I didn't have enough navy so got this nice tan color.  Plymouth Select DK. Size 5 needles.  Cast on 36 stitches.  My own pattern...I'm kind of winging it.  Tried it on him today and had to rip to the decreases and make longer.   I love this yarn!  This only took a short time to knit.

Ruth is almost done with her socks that she is making from a sock tube. She is an expert at afterthought heel now.

This sock is one she is knitting.  The Cirro yarn will be a sweater. We saw the sample when at the yarn shop yesterday and it will be totally lovely.

Martha is almost done with the Cromwell pullover with Noro yarn. She just has to pick up the neck. I think it is sooo cute.    She is going to make a sweater for her son next - he needs alpaca yarn...excited to see what it will be.

In other news:

I walked this morning, then we went to see my dad on his 88th birthday.  I am so tired.  Very domestic. Made sauce yesterday.  Made meatballs and bread today.  Lots of cleaning.  I currently have 12, 588 steps. I'm going to get my jammies on and make that 2nd mitten.

Now I know Mason will not keep that mitten on, but he needs something to protect his little hand from the weather going to and from car.

The moon showed up a little on my walk today at 7:00....it was such a pretty morning for a walk.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving my dear blog readers.

Stay safe and be kind.

Status Quo...Not a Bad Thing

 Hi Dear Blog Readers,

The Blog update this week is pretty much status quo as it was last week.  We are all working on the same things....but making progress!

I finished Mason's hat.  Double Rib Toddler Hat. Size 5 Needles.

Valley Yarn Haydenville, DK --worsted.  Navy Color.

2nd picture is accurate color.

Mason wore his hat when we went shopping on Friday.  He actually kept it on, and when I took it off, he put it back on (tried to put it back on).  We were picking out books at Walmart. He loves to read.

Just one single cable on the top.  My own design.

I am working on ribbing on the Peppermelon sweater.  I tried it on a string today, and need about one more inch and then bind off!

Started a sweater to give Mason for Christmas.

Sidar Hayworth  Tweed Yarn.

Pattern is The Afternoon Knows.

I was at a hospital waiting room all day Tuesday, so started a fun color pair of socks. Maybe for me..who knows.  My other projects were all to big to bring.

I made a hat, same pattern as I made for Mason, my own design ( because who can't design a hat with a single big cable!).  Yarn is leftover Tess Design Yarn, merino/mohair from my Mariechen sweater.   I added some Valley Yarn Southampton ( think kidsilk haze) for softness.  Color blueberry. You can't even see it really, but it made it so nice.  Dad will like it I think.

Ruth has been working on the sock blanks.   She is currently working on the pair she calls De Seuss colors.  So fun don't you think!!

Martha is working on the girlfriend sweater.  (Her son's girlfriend).  I think it is a great yarn choice for this pattern...love it!
Her words:

This sleeve I’m knitting is quite long 19+ inches, so I’ll be knitting this sleeve a while.  This is for Toms Gf .  She liked cropped tops when we visited so I hope she likes this.  This yarn is Noro, Tennen color is Wood. It’s 50% wool, 25% silk, 25% alpaca.  It’s very rustic. I hope she likes it.  The pattern is below.

Martha very generously sent my friend Marcia a big box of yarn she was not  going to use.  Marcia makes very fun combinations with scraps.  Thank you Martha..she loved it.

Did you notice the sweater that Mason was wearing with his hat? It's the sweater Martha made him before he was born..finally fits. So cute!  Joe said he thought the sweater/hat was an outfit!
Here is a better picture of the sweater.. Thanks, Martha !!!

 In other news:
Most of the leaves are changed.
See the big green tree in the background...all of those leaves have to fall yet.

This was the view from my walk this morning..neighbors trees....pretty.

This is our backyard. Joe had all of these cleaned up Thurs night.  It's his part time job in the fall.  Hopefully, they will be done soon.

Have a great week dear blog readers....stay safe and be kind.

November ? How did that happen!

Hi Dear Blog Readers...How can it be November already!  I have actually knit quite a bit this week, but you won't be able to tell.

I have put the Peppermelon sweater on a string 2x for sizing. I think it will be good.  I'm going to finish one more repeat of pattern (16 rows to go), then try on again to see how much ribbing I want.  Maybe not much.

I want to make some Elve slippers. I found this yarn and think it may be too nice. But I'm moving forward anyway. Patagonia yarn.

I still need to fix Mason's hat. Try 3 of the ear flap....

Ruth has been working on  adding cuff, heel and toe to the sock blanks. So cool!

Martha started a new sweater

Noro yarn Tennen which is 50% wool, 25% silk, 25% alpaca.  She's making the pattern Cromwell Pullover by Bobbi Invelt.  This sweater is for her son's gf. She tiny, probably 110 pounds, no boobs.  She's hoping this isn’t too small.  She wore loose fitting cropped clothes so I hope this is in her wheel house

 In other news:

I've been domestic again this weekend. Lots of cleaning and cooking.  And cleaning.  I had a baby shower today.  So not home at all.  Sigh. I love to be home on Sundays.  The weeks seem to get longer and longer.

Have a good week dear blog readers, stay safe and be kind.
