Stage 7a. The Real Finale

 Hi Dear Blog Readers....

Phew what a week of weather!  I was able to do morning walks three days this week and then the ice it.  Not as awful as some got it, but enough to keep me inside.  Today is warmer but sooo windy.

The Calicanto sweater is done, blocked and ready to wear!

LettiLopi Yarn  Size 7 Needles  Size Medium

Meant to be worn as an outer layer,  though I was freezing today for the pictures

I am very happy with the fit. The pattern was very easy to follow.  For me this was a big win...especially  the size. I'm usually make them too big.  I knit top down sweaters  (yoke or raglan mostly) so I can add width to the hips.  This one I only had to add 4 stitches.

Started on January 1st and finished the knitting on February 20th.  Not bad for me...I don't have that much time to knit during the week.

I have enough yarn left over to make another small sweater..

I finished up the first Hermonie Everyday sock and have a good start on the 2nd. I'm ready to add the afterthought heel stitches.  I had a lot of yarn left over and could have made them and inch longer.

I whipped up a new little hat for Tiffany's baby Jayce who will arrive last week of April . This is the same yarn I used for his little sheep sweater. Valley Amherst.  Merino. Sooo soft. Not machine washable.

Ruth made a lot of progress on her Gossamer Vest from Modern Daily Knitting.  It's so soft and fluffy looking.  I'm guessing she will finish it up this week.

Her are much better pictures of Martha's beautiful Basket Saddle Sweater.

Really really nice.  Perfect fit. Such nice detail!

Here is latest pictures of Martha's current sock:

Ruth went to see Martha this week and they went on a yarn shop tour.

Martha's own description:

The left side is Ruth’s yarn, the right side is mine.  Mine , pink, is Bartlett yarn, and the yellow is from Green Mountian Spinnery.  The yellow is 20% cotton and 80% wool.   Ruth’s blue is from GMS, brown are from Harrisville, and her pale pink is actually a kind of Marley color from Bartlett.

In other news:

Mason came to play this morning with us and Benny. (Note his hair is a little frazzled beause he was playing peek a boo under the blanket).

Benny has been here since Thursday. Going home Tuesday morning.

Joey and Casey are in Florida and saw this on the beach today...Cool huh!

Have a good week dear blog readers.  Do we hope March comes in like a lamb or a lion????

Stage 7: The Finale (almost)

 Hi Dear Blog Readers...

This week went so fast...how can it be Sunday already (and more importantly, how can tomorrow be a work day already!).

I finished up the knitting on the Calicanto Sweater.  It was a very very wonderfully pleasant sweater to knit.

LettiLopi yarn

Size 7 needles

When I chose this pattern, I was looking  for a sweater to use up the Lettilopi yarn left over from the Daytripper I made. I purchased the gray body yarn and thought I had enough leftovers for the yoke. Nope. Ended up buying the teal, and darker blue color. Now I have an even bigger bag of leftovers!  I guess I will make hats and mittens, and ???

We had company today so I didn't get to block it. I'll do that tomorrow.  This is supposed to have a lot of ease to wear  as an outer garment. Mine does not.  I usually make my sweaters too big so I tried not to  with this one.

Worked a little on the Uneek yarn sock in Hermione pattern. It will be an afterthought heel. The marker is where the heel will go. I am ready to decrease for the toe.  The stitch pattern does not really show, but mentally it was nice to have  to think every other row.

Ruth is working away on her Gossamer Vest from Modern Daily Knitting.  Drops Kid Silk yarn.  She has made a lot of great progress this week.  Look how wonderfully soft it looks.

Martha finished up her beautiful beautiful Basket Saddle sweater! Look at the detail!  Look at the buttons.  It is stunning!

She is swatching for her next sweater....

and this week worked on her fun sock.  All the beautiful colors!!

In other news: We celebrated Tiffany's birthday today.  She loves breakfast so that is what we had.

She wanted everything "orange cream" so I made her orange cookies, and Orange cream cake.

It turned out pretty good.

You can see from the picture it looks (and felt like) Spring here today

The family came. Mom was here not sure where she was when I was taking pictures.

Joey's little family

I wish someone would look at me like that!

This is the cake...not beautiful, but tasty.  Can you tell by the candles how old she is?

Have a great week dear blog readers.

Ruth is off to Mass to visit with Martha and they are doing several yarn shop tours...YES I am jealous!  Ha!

Stay safe and be kind.

Stage 6: Round and Round We go Part 2

Hi Dear Blog Readers! Happy Sunny Sunday!  We have not had much sun AT ALL in Western NY an the last two days have been beautiful.  I'm just back from a 2.5 mile walk.  Feels good to be out.

Round and round I went on the first sweater sleeve this week.  It was way too wide so I had to rip back to where it fit and do some decreases. It looks good on.  Eliminated about 6 rows of the colorwork. Since I was doing that I added the pop of pink before starting the ribbing.

Hoping to get a lot done on sleeve #2 while watching the superbowl tonight.

Ruth finished up her first knitten mitten and it's adorable!

I saw them in person this week and they are so much cuter than in the pictures.

Yes, you should be jealous I got to see them!

She needs a break and before she goes round and round on mitten #2, she is going to work on the Gossamer Vest from Modern Daily Knitting.  Drops Kid Silk yarn.  Look at all of that fluffiness....it will be incredible to wear I think.  Can't wait to see progress  next week.

Martha is nearing the end on her Basket Saddle sweater.  Look how beautiful.  She is going to rip and redo the neck so its more substantial.

In other news:

Mason came to play yesterday.  He has such a great imagination.

Here he is riding an "elephant" (the stick was too big to be a horse)

And  here he is in his :"treehouse"

Have a great week dear blog readers....Stay safe and be kind.

Stage 5: Round and Round We go...Part 1

 Hi Dear Blog Readers !

I hope you had a nice, knitful week!

I did for sure. Finished up body of sweater and started first sleeve.  Round and round I go.  This sleeve does not call for any decreases.   I will try it on in a bit and see if I think I should put some in. Usually the pattern calls for more decreases than I need. I never follow the pattern for sleeve decreases....I follow ME, and my arm size and do what feels right.  There is a little patterning at bottom of sleeve...can't wait to get there.

When I finished the body of the sweater, I took a break and waited to put the sleeve on the needle till the next day, and worked on the sock.  Decided to put in an afterthought heel (rust color yarn).  Nice little distraction for one evening.

Ruth finished up her BEAUTIFUL Interlaken Pullover Sweater in Bartlett yarn.  Look at the detail!  Look at the fit! Stunning!  I can't wait to see it in person.  I bet she casts on another sweater by weeks end...

While she's thinking of sweaters to make, she is whipping up a pair of Knittens (notice the Knitting abbreviations in the mittens = knittens) by Wendy D.  Johnson.

She is using leftover bartlett yarn and from the sweater and bare naked wool.  She is going round and round also, but a bit slower than my sleeve...lol   Cute!!!!

Martha's sweater is soaking but  this is a picture she took earlier of her Basket Saddle by Tristen TenDyke sweater.  So pretty. I can't wait to see it blocked. She has some finishing to do when its dry.  She is currently looking for patterns for her next sweater.

In other news:

After windchill of 20 below Friday and yesterday morning, its 45 here today.  Mason loved being outside playing with his mommy.   She calls him Ralphy when he's all bundled up like this!

Have a good week dear blog readers...Stay safe, be kind and get lots of knitting done!
