New Year - 2014

Happy New Year !!

I like to post some knitting goals in the New Year.
This year's list includes:

*make as much from Rhinebeck yarn as I can
*knit something from Interweave Knits Magazine (because why do I continue
to get it if I never  knit a pattern from there !!)
*knit something from one of my many pattern books
*use as much stash as possible...

We'll see how this turns out....LOL

The Christmas knitting went amazingly well this year.
I don't have all of the pictures, but can share some.

Mom LOVED her green socks made from A Touch of Twist Yarn.
They fit...I was so afraid they would not.

Joe and Joey loved their Frolicking Deer Hats .... free pattern
from Ravelry. Here is Joey:

Made from Plymouth Select Worsted Superwash.  I will get better pics
for next week.

Joe loved his Wisconsin socks....he said they looked like they would come to
his belly button !! but he put them on and didn't take them off for 3 days..
literally!!!

Here is a sock I am working on for myself. Started Christmas Eve
and finished up the 1st one last night.

Yarn is Squoosh Fiberarts  Merino  Cashmere  Sock

I actually won the yarn.  I purchased some Madelinetosh yarn
from Eat Sleep Knit, and with my order they sent me a lottery
ticket, and I won this yarn !!!

Pattern is Business Casual

free on Ravelry.

I used a double stitch heel, and added black nylon for strength

I am down to two pair of socks, so I can't wait to get
these done !!

Joe and I went away  last weekend, and I needed something
a little more brainless so I started a pair of toe up socks for
myself...

Shelridge Farm Soft Touch Yarn from Rhinebeck (see goal 1 above)

I used this yarn before for socks, and just loved them. Using a size 2 needle.
I now I am making two blue pair, but blue goes with everything..right ??

Note the lines in the pattern...I am doing K3, K the 4th stitch through the
back loop for visual interest.....

I am all signed up for Through The Loops Mystery Sock that starts
next week.

Here is the yarn I chose:

A Touch of Twist - the green is leftover from mom's socks.
Her blog said we will need just 25 yards of a 2nd color
for accent.  She said we can use 64 or 72 stitches...this yarn
is really thin, so I will use size 1 needles and cast on 72
stitches...I want to be mostly done with the Business
Casual socks when this starts...wish me luck!  I hope Ruth
and Martha join too...hint hint hint   LOL

Tiffany wrapped up mom's scarf with the needles. She is
making great progress, but on a size 3 needle, it is taking
a while.

It will be well worth the wait....it is really stunning in person.

Martha is working on a new sweater:

Bartlett yarns, 2ply yarn. Highlander by Knitspot.
(same pattern Ruth is using for her sweater...)

She is really moving right along....not taking her much
time at all to get this far...

Joey got me a Silpat baking pad for Christmas and I used it
for the first time today....

Made his favorite cookies: orange....
here they are without frosting.  The Slipat worked great

We had a really nice Christmas..despite all of the weather
in the last couple weeks. Here is our festive Christmas
Eve table....

Tiffany liked her apron with her name on it....so vintage !!

purchased from Etsy....(forgive the pics..it's very early on  Christmas
morning)

Had a nice time at mom and dad's on Christmas....

Mom did not realize she kept her antlers on ALL DAY...so cute, but it
was really hard to take her seriously...

Joe and I did not exchange presents, but went away last weekend and had
a super wonderful time.  One night at Turning  Stone Casino (his sister
got us a VIP room) ...
we stayed up dancing until 3:00 am....so FUN!!!

and second night at Skaneateles...
This was our cozy room:

Hi gas. My goals is to make sweaters. Socks are nice but my yarn for sweaters is too great and takes up much room. I'm trying to destash. So far so good. Finished the brow yarn, using my Bartlett too. Pi have yarn to make two sweaters for Toms 2 friends. Cruising on! Also I want to make a merino hat....
